A World Without Bias: The AI Advantage.

So, I have days that I just sit and wonder, just like today, I was just wondering and I decided to put my thought down in words. I was wondering if it's possible my us to get it right in Nigeria. This ain't just about me, this is for the old men and women, for the young lads, for the students, for the newly married, for the graduates, and for that boy and girl hawking on the streets.

That was what I was actually thinking about, but what can I do, while still in my thought, something came up and I had to attend to it, when I was done, I picked up my phone and was just scrolling when I saw something on the Internet, even though long, I took my time to read it through. Guess what it was, it was about how AI(Artificial Intelligence) is changing the world today, and then a thought dropped in my mind.

Want to know the thought right....smiles, don't mind me and don't mind how it sounds. But, what if, just what if Nigeria was run by AI.

When it dropped, even I laughed at myself. It does sound like those sci-fi movies which often starts well but always ends in chaos/disaster. I didn't wave the thought of, I pondered on it, and the more I did, the more serious it felt.

Just imagine, imagine waking up one morning and you find out that everything now runs on logic. Nothing like....*he's well connected, nothing like come back later. Just facts, and results straight up. You no longer have to pray for hours when you apply for a job as long as you are qualified, you no longer need to worry about changing your name, you no longer worry about your tribe or religion. Everything goes smoothly and you are picked based on merit. Even when it comes to business, AI helps calculate and analyze it all, it tells you the risk and all, and can tell you if to proceed with it or not, and even give you ideas and ways to expand.

This unstable light of a thing also, it would reduce, that's if light ever goes, and even if it will, then we would have been notified ahead. When maintenance is going on on a certain road or something, we would know and be notified ahead, we won't just get to a junction, and looking at our house ahead but find out the road has been blocked cause some maintenance was ongoing. Also, there won't be bribes on our roads and checkpoints again, you either follow the law or you get fined, all of these done digitally.

Well, the truth remains that nothing is perfect.

AI might not/won’t understand that atimes we bend the rules just to survive here in Nigeria. For example, if someone is sick or at the brink of death and on getting to the nearest hospital, AI says, “Access denied.” Maybe cause the person was never registered or something. Not to talk of people who don’t know how to use a phone not to talk of tech. What about all these men and women who are uneducated, and are just running some side hustles on the streets to make a living, how will they navigate a world run by machines?

AI can is smart, but it doesn’t feel, it doesn’t care if your mother died last week, it doesn't bother if rain has entered and wiped your shop. What does it do? It just follows instructions. Now, in a country like ours, where we all survive on connections and emotions, where we say, "please help me sir," are we going to really cope?

The truth is I'm tempted....cause I’m tired of leaders who go abroad for their own treatment, while leaving the hospitals here lacking basic amenities. I am tired of politicians who send their children abroad for education, while the educational system here is nothing to write home about, I am tired of officers who aren't concerned about protecting lives and properties but are all about bribes, I'm tired of politicians who only gave us four cups of rice and empty promises every four years. But maybe, just maybe, if AI was in charge, it would be a little bit fair.

AI won't be concerned about your family, your tribe or your religion.

I think I should just stop here, till next time. Not that I want AI to replace humans completely. But I think Nigeria needs a system like AI.....an honest, structured, and unbiased system to run certain things.

Fairness, good education, access to good medical facilities, justice and the like should be default.
