Howdy all
I have way too many hobbies, all of which are rather expensive. I can't seem to find cheap hobbies that I enjoy at all.
I have found one that's mostly free, though, depending on where you go to visit to take part in this hobby.
Art exhibitions!
I have always enjoyed art, I've never been very good at it, like I'm really terrible, but it's the taking part that counts eh.
One artist that I greatly appreciate is LS Lowry. Born at the back end of 1887 and died in 1976 at the ripe ol age of 88.
Studying painting and drawings in evening courses over the years at the Municipal College of Art and later on the Salford School of Art. A lot of his drawings were done on scrap pieces of paper to hand, even the backs of envelopes.
This one is 'Seaside Promenade', easily one of my favourite pieces by Lowry. Sadly, this picture doesn't do it justice. In person, it is actually a lot nicer.
Another great piece that I really enjoy is Going to the Match.
It's another piece that looks great in person. The costs of the original works are eye-watering, like seriously would put a large hole in your pocket!
Lowry, like many other artists, gained more of a following after his death, making some of these pieces quite collectible and sought after.
Lowry has many imitators of his art style, some do great pieces, but you can always see Lowry's work in the other artists' works. It's an interesting style that draws the eye. With the works being quite basic-looking, when you stumble upon one, it really is eye-catching.
If, like myself, you enjoy art, I wholeheartedly recommend attending some exhibitions and art galleries near yourselves.
You might even find some inspiration to propel you on an artistic journey for yourself.
