On my way home at night, a woman approached me and said, Please brother, my children are at home and they have not eaten, plz give me anything.
I was so touched by her words, I dipped my hand in my pocket and brought out 2000 Naira, which I gave to her.
I was happy that I was able to help someone in need, I just can't say no to someone who asks me for help regarding food...
Three days later, this time during the daytime, another woman approached me, giving the same story that she had kids and they had not eaten, and the first woman's story flashed into my mind immediately, but I thought maybe it was just a coincidence, so I gave her something too, not as much as the first woman though...
A few days later, a small boy approached me, also asking for something because he was hungry, and I gave him something too. Still, the one that made me draw the line was when I wanted to enter a bike. This woman came to me asking me for money to eat, as I dipped my hand in my pocket and brought out the money to give her, I noticed she was carrying a small hand bag which put the thought in my mind that these people doesn't need help and begging is actually their source of livelihood, like it is their profession, I could not stop myself from giving her the money cos I already stretched my hand.
I had a bad dream that same day I gave her the money, and I made myself a promise not to give any beggar, either corporate or hungry beggar, money again.
The main issue is not that they turn it into an occupation, but some of these beggars will collect money from kind people and sell it to the evil ones for a higher amount, and the evil ones will take the money to their herbalist for a ritual.
I stopped giving them money after the bad dreams cos it was not even one dream I had. I prayed over it, and anything revealed through the dream has already been resolved; one just needs to pray to complete it.
On sunday, I wanted to buy fruit in the market and just when I was negotiating with the buyer, a teen girl approached me with the same format that I should give her money for food, I scan her from head to toe, she was not putting on any footwear and as usual she carried a small bag by her side where she put the money she collect from people, I didn't even say anything, I just gestured No with my hand and she was like not even 50 naira, I said No, so she left...
I later saw her on my way home, asking others for money too. These people will make it hard to help those who genuinely need it because people will start assuming everyone asking for help is doing it as a profession.

Wait, she asked "not even #50"? Omoooo. These people are getting scarier by the day. God, abeg!
yea, that was exactly what she said, who knows what she wanted to use it for... There are many in this area into such, and I have wise up now.
That's what I'm saying. With that statement, it meant something.
I'm grateful for you, honestly.

someone once said if you keep making transfer to every touching story, you will become the next touching story π funny enough that's so true, I come across a lot of them on my way out, I understand the situation but I myself I'm no buoyant enough, but still these people obviously making a profession out of it, i know some don't have any alternative but then if you like GIVE A BEGGER $100,000,000 the next day you will still come across the same person still begging, it's not money its a change of mindset that they need.
These people are not lacking; in fact, they will be among the highest paid in our country because their average daily earnings are more than what some top occupations and professions in Nigeria earn... They can earn as much as 20k per day!
wow .... omo this is serious... it is for one to be wise oo
Hahaha π
Burl, they are everywhere oo especially those women who put on white clothes like Osun people.
One would become poor if we keep giving to every beggar that comes our way. We want to help but most of them use it for evil purpose. We can only be led to give to the right ones. I have also learnt not to give everyone but I do pray for the Holy Spirit to lead me in giving to the right people.
These people have obviously turned begging into occupation and for these ones, I donβt look their side. You know, whenever I am traveling and at the park, I simply plug in my EarPods and turn the volume high so I wonβt hear. It is well. May God keep protecting us from people who have bad intentions against us when we only want to do good.
Yes, the Iya Osun too, we have these people in my area as well. I used to give them money before, but I later stopped because it is also an occupation for them... I don't even look at their face again. May God continue to protect us and those we have given money in the past who plan to use our money against us, Thunder! do your work in their lives.
