Experience is the Best Teacher

I find it strange when people say, “You have shown your true colors,” simply because you did something they didn’t like or because you got upset over something wrong they did.

What about all the days you were kind to them? What about the times you stood by them, helped them, forgave them, and treated them with love and respect? Why aren’t those moments considered your “true colors”? Somehow, one mistake or one moment of anger suddenly outweighs years of kindness.

Another thing I have noticed is how quickly people are to embrace the “aura for aura” mentality when they feel offended.

When you do good things for them, that same energy rarely appears. They don’t rush to repay kindness with kindness. But make one mistake that hurts them, and suddenly their desire for revenge comes alive. It is funny how some people are more eager to return pain than they are to return goodness.

Life has taught me that people are unpredictable. You shouldn’t place absolute trust in anyone because betrayal usually comes from those closest to you. They know your strengths, but more importantly, they know exactly what can hurt you the most.

That is why I have learned to be careful about revealing my deepest weaknesses and secrets. Today's best friend can become tomorrow’s stranger, or even your enemy. Sadly, the very things you shared in confidence can later be used against you. This isn’t a new story; history has repeated it countless times.

The older we grow, the wiser we become through experience. The lessons life has taught me over the past ten years are worth more than money because they have changed the way I see people and relationships. The best part is that I won’t repeat those same mistakes, and I will do everything I can to ensure my family doesn’t make them either. Experience may be a hard teacher, but its lessons are often the ones we never forget.
