Data subscription - Nigerian's Dilemma

Earlier this year, a new tariff was set for the different types of networks we have in Nigeria... The old data plans we enjoyed were gone, and the new prices were too expensive.

I used to subscribe to the 1 terabyte yearly plan for 100k Naira, but that was canceled, and the new offer looks like a rip-off, can't imagine subscribing with 90k Naira for 480 gig, and it expires after 3 months... The difference was just too much, so I had to start doing small subscriptions.

I started with the Mtn Smart Data of 23 gig for 3500 Naira, which is better than the daily sub of 300 Naira per gig, and I already planned to stick with this before Mtn decided to do me bad by removing it, my sim suddenly became ineligible for it, not one sim but my two sims!, You can try it to check if you have a lucky sim... Just dial * 121 # and click the smart data, you will see many options, and you can pick the one that suits you.

As Mtn made my sim ineligible for the smart data, I had to reactivate my Airtel sim and started doing the 2000 Naira for 5 gig weekly plan on it but it finishes within 3 days and when I calculated how much I spend on data within a week, it was almost 9k and this was because I manage the data by reducing my screen time especially with facebook reels and Tiktok videos but still the data didn't serve me well enough so I know I need to find a permanent solution to the data problem.

Luckily, I found a video on TikTok about Airtel unlimited monthly subscription using their 5 G router, and checking the comments under the video, I saw good reviews about it, and right there, I knew I had found a solution to my problem. I just need to get the router.

I checked their website online, and the 5G router was available for purchase at the price of 50,000 Naira, I tried to order it but I faced some problem especially when it get to the part I need to put in my address so I had to visit their nearby store but to my surprise they are selling it for 75k Naira, I asked why the price online is different from what they are calling but it is what it is... I had no other choice but to buy it....

It comes with unlimited data for a month when purchased, and every month, the user only needs to subscribe 30 000 Naira monthly to enjoy an unlimited data plan. They have the 20k Naira and 50k Naira unlimited sub plan; it all depends on what you want and how fast you want your internet to be.

It is what I have been using to work since this afternoon, and it is fast, it comes with a power bank to charge the router, and I was told the power bank lasts for 4 hours, yet to confirm it.

I am glad I got it, I can download and use the data as I like now without worrying about exhausting it.

I think it is a good option for heavy data users and also for families... You and your family can connect to the router and enjoy unlimited data throughout the month....
