A night without electricity

Unfortunately, I am jam-packed with this set of people, I am referring to my neighbors!

Sometime last year, the landlord brought prepaid meters and asked the tenants to pay for the connection, it is wrong but it is what it is, some people on the ground floor which I am refused to cooperate, they said it is the landlord that supposed to connect it, those at the middle floor had to remove us from the setup and get theirs done, in the end, out of the six tenants on the ground floor, just 4 of us paid 15 000 Naira and the other two didn't pay... Two tenants had to share 1 meter while the last 2 were left on the old meter.

There is an issue now, the landlord is supposed to bring a personal prepaid meter that will be used for pumping water and compound light but somehow the people he paid didn't bring the last one, they use the money for that as their service charge, the tenant whose prepaid meter bears the two load said he doesn't want it anymore so he disconnected it from his meter.

There was a short meeting on the middle floor and it was agreed that everyone should contribute 6k Naira to buy the light reader, wire, and cut-out so the person who wants to chest the pumping water and compound light won't be inconvenienced, which is a good idea! but one person on the ground floor was already grumbling, that why are they asking for that money now and they should have said it before that time, she didn't have any money to pay, and there is another tenant that I know who also doesn't like to contribute money, so no one made the payment and right now we have no water! I know most people already have water in their drum and within 3 to 4 or let me just extend it to 1 week, they will run out of water, and if the stuff doesn't get fixed, they will end up spending more than that buying water from outside plus the inconvenience of using a bucket instead of a shower.

The most annoying part was that after they made the meter connection, my prepaid meter started tripping and I won't have light in my apartment, my co-tenant isn't around so I was the only one suffering for that, the first time it happened, I called the electrician that fixed it and it was while doing it I realized it was not just my prepaid, but another one was affected that night, he didn't bring tools, he just uses his hand to do the wire and I have light again, I asked him the reason why it happens, he said we need to fix it permanently and the house need to contribute to get that done that the issue is with the power box but I know that is not going to happen anytime soon since most of them are not affected, I told the electrician to fix my meter to the line that has no problem, he told me load would be too much on that line and it may blow, so he didn't.

Two days after, my meter tripped again and I had no light, this time I went to check and realized I was the only one affected, I called the electrician again and he said he was not around that night and he would come the following morning, I had to sleep without light that night, it would have been a bad night but thank God for my rechargeable fan, the next morning I called him again, he said he forgot and he already left home, I told him not to bother, so I called my electrician, I explained everything to him when he arrived and he understood his mission.

We rented a ladder, and he checked it out and told me the other electrician didn't tie it well, also that same line I told him to put my meter but he refused, my electrician put me in that line saying if he blow it should blow, when it blows, all the tenants would come out to fix it instead of one person wasting money to fix his tripping line every damn time and that was how I solve the issue. In the end, I was glad the other guy didn't come cos if he was the one, he would have done a bad job again.
