I get it when parents try to give a reason why you shouldn't get married to someone, it might sound stupid to us but it's a solid reason to them.

I think in your case the best thing to do is to look for an uncle or aunt or just anyone that your parents actually respect and listen to and ask them to help you talk to your parents.

I had an issue with my dad before getting married and he was against my wedding but my uncle, his elder brother interfered on my behalf.

You need wisdom to go about such issues, no matter what you would be happier when you see your parents present at your most happiest day
