Money, they say is the root of all evil. And so is love. Love kills, ruins and hurts. Poverty is the beginning of all sickness.
In Africa, especially my country, we are so big on marriage and money. Is there anyone in this world that doesn't want money? I guess not. I used to have a friend that claim not to like money yet he wants to own a power bike that cost millions of dollars.
The pressure mounted on young adult of certain age about marriage is second to none.
Especially the ladies, they are raised in such a way that they are and must be prepared for marriage. It's more like a taboo when a child tells an African parents they don't want to get married.
When I think about money in marriage, I see myself having the money before meeting my partner. I see myself as an independent and financially stable person.
Over the years, I have learnt that money is one of the biggest problem in marriage. When one person is totally dependent on the other person, or when the lady was lure with money to begin with, when the money finishes or diminishes, there's going to be problem. But when the lady herself is financially equipped with her own hard earned money, it's always different.
Most marriage doesn't fall because of money, it's mostly on infidelity. Of course there are lots of relationships and marriages that has crumbled because of money. But, there are still a whole lot that was built on love and still remain in love and even when money comes, the love is still as strong as ever.
I do ask this particular question "aside money, what else is required to hold a relationship or marriage". Imagine a situation where both parties are financially stable, I mean both parties worked to earn the money ( I believe, it is only your hard earned money that is usually spent wisely) and not inherited and they both understood what it takes to work for money, what else do they need to keep the relationship? You guess right, LOVE.
True love is scarce; yes but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist and not important. Yes, money is important, but in marriage, it can never buy or give you true love and affection you truly deserve or want. Money cannot make people respect you truly, if they do, its fake and its not you they're respecting. Its the money in your hands. Now imagine what happens when it finish or what the people below you would do if they eventually have that same money as yourself.
Money gives a timely freedom and a sense of fulfillment. There are lots of rich people out there crying everyday for what money couldn't get them. If they were poor, it might still be bearable but they're rich and still couldn't have what they want', the pain hits different. Yes, the rich also cry.
For me, marriage is important and so is money. But I will never take money over LOVE. I want money and I want love. And if I have to choose between both with a faithful partner, I would choose LOVE and live a simple and happy life than a rich and sad life. However, with an unfaithful partner, I would choose money over and over again. lol
Anybody and everybody can have money, but not everyone is capable of having and giving love.
Just work, live within your means and be happy.

Money is Important to fulfill our needs in married life no doubt but love always conquer that's why I am totally agree with your point of view.
I'm glad you're sharing perspective with me, thank you.
In marriage money is needed to maintain the family. Love won't bring food to the table neither will it pay bills. I don't subscribe to couples getting into marriage without having a stable means of livelihood, at least make sure you are doing something that brings in money.
I agree with this, so many people went into a loveless relationship and marriage today due to money and they are regretting it.
I want love and I want money too. They work together.
You're right sis, love won't put food on the table in marriage but love will manage the little food put on the table with love. Both are important and I wish you both.
Exactly, with love everything can be managed.

You are right i.e. those who love can never be sustained. Money plays a very important role especially in arranging a wedding. So it is better to make sure that we have money to fulfill any goal.
