Being successful means a lot of things to different people out there. Just like I am right now, one of my targets is to land a well-paying job that will establish me in life, and if I get that, that’s a success to me. Funnily, this same thing is trash to a lot of people out there, it’s no longer a big deal to them, but that’s what I need right now.
For a younger person in school, being successful to them is getting good grades in their exams or gaining admission into a higher institution.
To those with families, success to them is getting promoted at their workplace or hitting a jackpot while having enough money to execute their projects and also train their children in school.
In fact, from what I have seen, success is just a continuous quest as long as one is still living, because once there’s life, there’s always a target to meet. I once met an elderly woman whose only aim at that stage in life was to see one of her grandchildren get married. Her direct children were taking very good care of her, she was not lacking in any way, and she was very old. Even if she died at that age, it wouldn’t have been considered a bad one, but she kept talking about how she wanted to feel very good and live a fulfilled life by seeing that particular grandchild get married before her time on earth was up. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen before she left the earth.
This definition of success has not changed in my mind. Even as the world changes every day, I still take success as someone smashing a goal at any level at all. And this lifestyle continues in a man’s life until he grows old and dies.
Thank You!
