The Price of Festivity: Traffic,Fares,and Frustration

I love Christmas, and if I had my way, I’d make every weekend Christmas because why not? Christmas is too wonderful to be celebrated once a year. Why do we need to wait till the end of the year to celebrate something as beautiful and special as Christmas?

What stresses you during Christmas?

As much as I love Christmas and can go on and on basking in the spirit of the season, I find the hustle and bustle in the city exhausting. My city is usually crowded, everyone is on the move, and we lose the peace and calmness we enjoy, and that sucks.

The festive season is usually characterized by unnecessary traffic, unreasonable transportation fares and an increased population.
Everyone is celebrating, and it does seem like the whole city is outside. When we experience a large number of people outside, it becomes harder to go about our business without experiencing unnecessary traffic.

On Saturday, I was stuck in traffic for 5 hours. The crazy thing is that, the city I live in isn’t even populated like the rest of the big cities in my country. It was exhausting, and it made me regret leaving my house in the first place.

The entire place was locked, and it felt like they had locked the city and thrown away the key in the ocean with no hope of finding it😭😭. It was a horrible experience, and up till now I’m scared of going out lest I experience it again.

While I rested my head on the chair, all I could think of were people who had emergencies and were stuck in the traffic like me. How would they be able to go about it because there was literally no way in or out. That thought alone fueled my anger.

As much as I love Christmas, the hustle and bustle stresses me out more than anything. I’m not against people going out and celebrating, but I wish we didn’t have to experience traffic of such magnitude.

I honestly just wanna go out, do my thing, return home early, and in one piece. I’m not about to spend the whole day on the road, doing nothing but worry my pretty head for what I have no control over.

I wish we could all celebrate Christmas without getting to deal with traffic and ridiculous transportation fares. I wish we could have a calmer Christmas. It would definitely be nice, if you ask me.
