Education without barriers; is free quality education feasible?

(edited)

Should quality education be a universal right, free for all, no matter a country’s wealth? Or is it unrealistic given economic limitations?
What are your thoughts on whether education should be accessible to everyone and how it could impact individuals, communities, and the future of the world.

Ceteris paribus, good education should be a universal right but all things are never equal hence the lacks. I totally believe that no matter what a countries economic status, that good education should be something that should be an equal right to every member to a country. Most countries capture education into their national budget but the grip of corruption wouldn’t even let the citizens enjoy what should have been a fundamental right to being a citizen of the country.

During my national youth service corp working, I happen to have a first hand witness on the type of decadence that have creeped into the fabrics of our country educational systems. I saw public schools or so called government schools that was nothing to write home about. Some of these schools had dilapidated buildings and the classrooms were an eye sore. The students have no where to sit. Some of them sit or the floor while some used cement blocks as seats to learn from a worn out board and classroom that has been crying for redemption over the years.

The underpaid teachers are lacking motivation and because the qualified teachers are not being paid well, the principals in charge would have to make compromises to get just about anyone to teach the students, those they can be able to pay peanuts just in the name of sustaining the schools. The school staff room is not furnished and there are no materials for the teachers do use to teach effectively. No text books and other teaching aids. They are all a bunch of frustrated students and teachers.

The irony of these experiences is that these students would grow up to compete with other students from better educational backgrounds in higher institutions. The question is what chance do these ones have? They can barely speak good English and they can barely pass their school certificate exams and yet they are noble citizens of a country.

Talking from the standpoint of my country which have enough funds to see that the citizens can have good education if only the funds are channeled appropriately. Quality education for every citizen is not an unrealistic goal in Nigeria, but corruption and amassing of public funds wouldn’t just let that happen. Corruption high and low places had simply deprived the citizens of this opportunity.

Imagine if everyone has access to the right type of quality education, it would revolutionize our country. Starting from the individuals who would be able to decipher what they want to do with themselves and the field they want to delve into. individual advancement and quality citizens makes for quality society which in turn impacts the world. When the citizens are at a loss on what to make out of their lives, they end up being nuisance to the society at large.

Every individual deserves quality education which in turn impacts the quality of individuals life which impacts the society and the would at large.
