That sounds like a frustrating week, I know menstrual cycles have massive impact on performance for women, it really isn't talked about enough, so you just gotta go with that I guess.
And don't beat yourself up when things don't go to plan, you have to just go with the feel sometimes.
IKG lighter, that's one hell of a dump!
Thanks for your compassionate reply 🙏
It was rough. I'm glad we got through it.
Menstrual cycles are definitely not talked about anywhere near enough, not just in exercise (where almost every since scientific research study has been done using men and then applied to women as if we are "small men") but also in how it affects the rest of our life.
Did you know menstruating women are fantastic at big picture thinking when they're bleeding but rubbish at in the week or so beforehand? Conversely in the week prior to the menstrual (bleeding) phase we're amazing at improving stuff and ticking off endless small annoying tasks but don't want to do any of this in the first week after our bleed?
Crazy, but obvious when we look at the hormone changes that trigger the movement from one phase to the next and the impact those same hormones have on how our brain and body function.
Clearly I could talk about this a lot. It's been phenomenal to learn and I want every ~15-50 year old woman to know this stuff. (And every man who loves a 15-50 year old woman to know it too!) !LOL
The more we talk about it likes it's just a normal part of life (which it is) the more comfortable people will be, the less shame and secrecy there will be, the better the systems and legislation can be around supporting women appropriately so all of us can thrive.
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. 😅

Yeah I'm aware of it because of having had a GF get a contraceptive implant which fucked her up a bit, as I understand it most female athletes have to go on it because it fucks with the cycle, but unfortunately a lot of other stuff too, it's these subtle things that show how male dominated the medical profession is, although subtle probably isn't the right word and I'm only using it because that male dominance makes that word seem appropriate!
In reality it's a big fucking deal!
