Nature's Calendar: Correlating Christmas Trees and Crop Cycles

Hello all Hive Friends

We are in the month of December and in less then three weeks we will enter in new year. So its time to day good bye to the current year and same time its time to welcome the new year. At the end of the year their will be two big celebrations - first will be Christmas and other will be New Year Eve. I am from India and here in my family we do not celebrate the Christmas (some of my friend who follows to Christianity they do celebrate Christmas). I am belongs to the north side of country and here the most population belongs to Hindu or Sikh religious, but If I talked about the three year ago then I was in the western part of the country (three year ago I got transfer to my native place). My rented flat has a balcony facing one of the main road of the city and I remember watching the group of people performing on roads during the Christmas celebration. I really enjoy the beats and their performances. During out childhood we got one week holidays starting form the 23rd of December to 1st of January as its peak winter season here. We use to called it Christmas holidays. I still remember even we do not celebrate the festival but still we use to prepare the hand made greeting cards for Christmas and New Year wishes. When ever I think of Christmas the first picture comes into my mind is the Christmas tree. The green three with a lots of decorations on it. In my childhood when ever I see it in any serial or movies I always imagine similar in my room. I really do not know the real reason or story behind the Christmas tree but what I can correlate it is the nature. In Indian almost all the festivals are linked to the nature. We are mostly depends on the agriculture and most of the festivals are linked with the harvesting or sowing of the crop and that is the reason I called that our festivals are linked with nature. And that is the reason I guess I corelate the Christmas tree and nature very easily.

Some of my friends are living abroad and they are working their so they also got the Christmas holidays. I asked one of my friend that what is the reason that the people love those holidays like anything. The one reason he told me touched me, he explained that before the Christmas the days are shorter, cold and dark. Those are very depressing days as mostly people prefer to stay inside the houses and the kids are also kept inside houses only. The weather and climate condition are not good in those days. He himself told that many time they also feel like stressed and depressed as the social gathering are very less in those days but after the Christmas the things start getting changed. The nights start shrining and this give the new energy to everyone. The people start coming out of their homes and its like end of those depressing days. So people eagerly waited for those holidays. This shows the power of nature and we all must admire that the nature is great. The change of length of day and night is as per the law of nature and this also give us the chance to celebrate. If we do not have the seasons or change in the weather then the life must be boring.

If I have to share my story or memory from those holidays then I love to share, when two years back I visited the Western Indian again with my family. It was a nice get together or you can say a reunion after my transfer to northern side. The schools were closed for the winter or Christmas holidays and I took one week leave form office. The start of the journey was very bad or I can say was the worst experience of mine on any airport. Our flight was delayed by four hours and we were waiting at the boarding gate. I was mot much worried about the late flying, I was more worried about the cancellation of flight. If the flight got canceled than my whole plan went wrong. Fortunately they arranged the crew, pilot and Finlay we fly to the destination, but one more surprise was waiting for us at airport where we landed. No one form our flight was able to find their luggage. We wait for another 2 hours and finally we received our luggage. The best part of the holiday was the visit to Pawna lake. Actually we decide to make the trip a adventures trip and for same we start exploring the options near to our location. The first option comes into our mind was a family resort but one of our friend suggest the Pawna lake. The location was about 2 hour away form the main city and was on the banks of Pawna lake. We can camp their and stay over night their. This was one of the best holiday we have. If I have to plan the Charismas and New Year holidays again and got a chance to go their then definitely I will go their. I like to be close to the nature and this place is in the nature. The calm water of lake give the pleasant view and give the peace of mind. We spend good time sitting at the bank of the lake and also enjoyed the cup of evening tea with snacks. The place was away form the city traffic and I must say we were forget the office stress for the time we were their. One activity I missed was the trekking, the fun must become doubled if we were able to find any local guide. May be this is the pending activity for the next visit and we have to plan with one day specifically for the trekking.

Here are the some pic I love to share..
