Good day, hivers! How was school in a month? Was it tiring like mine? Well, of course, we all feel that way but I know it would all be worth it soon after. So, today, I will be sharing to you what made us busy this past week, my artwork venture.
This week, I had the opportunity to create a piece of artwork for a school project, and turned out to be surprisingly rewarding experience. Art is something I have been admiring from a distance and this project pulled right into my creative self, from brainstorming to what kind of technique will I use?
BRIEF EXPLANATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
The instruction given to us was just simple, to create our own painting with the theme “new beginning”. Upon hearing what the teacher had said, I immediately visualize myself as the model for this artwork. And why is that?
Simply because, everytime new beginnings or fresh starts would be mentioned, one thing that would cross my mind is myself, my existence. I have always keep this positive thought in my mind that everyday of my existence is a new beginning, even if each day turned out to be good or would lead me to something bad because life is always like that.
THE PROCESS
The first step that I did was to make a sketch or a draft about the idea in my head and I was actually proud at first because it didn't took me that long to discover what I truly want to draw. (I didn't have the chance to take a photo of my sketch using a pencil because we are not allowed to open our phone in time of classes)
For the first day, I have already finalized my drawing and when the next day came, I started to color it using an oil pastel. Again, I couldn't take a picture of how the second day began because of the same reason. At the end of the second day, you can see in the picture that I was halfway through the process of coloring and I was honestly so confident about it.
The third and the last day was nothing but sort of pressure because we have to pass our output, finish or unfinish. Though I was positive at that time because I can feel that I can finish it before our session ends. At first, I colored the sky with the typical oil pastel coloring stroke pattern but as I stared at it, there is something off so as you can see in the next picture, I matched it with the dotting method I used since the very start and it turned out pretty well.
Creating this artwork helped me understand how powerful self-expression can be. Just by completing this project, I made something that felt like me. I was proud to see my artwork being one of these amazing artwork posted at the back of our classroom, it just felt so satisfying knowing I put my all for it.
Here are the final artwork of our class, it was just so amazing and mesmerizing in the eyes of everyone.
How about you, dear hivers? I hope you've already done a cool school project even though I know we all did. Until next time!
