Pack Leader: Pixel Art & Process 🦁✨

🦁 Rawr!

Tried something different for this: some pixel style art! The pack leader here is surrounded by some cubs or lionesses, not sure which ;) ~ Prompt was provided via the LeoFinance Zealy Adoption campaign (where anyone on Hive can compete for a $10,000 USD prize pool, all in the name of generating more activity on Hive!)

🛠️ Tools

I used some reference images on Google.
Started with a free pixel art site called Pixilart for the base.
Finished it using GIMP software.
Canva Pro helped a little bit with the background!

🎨 Process

Step one was to create the pack leader and one "associate" in Pixilart. Once I had that, I wanted to bring the image over to GIMP where I know more of the controls.

Then in GIMP, I made a bunch of lil' lion duplicates. Filling in pixel expressions was fun!

I wanted a Leo vibe for the background, so I found some coin pixel art and manually tiled it. Added it, resized, tinkered with opacity, then signed it. Turns out I was building on a very teeny canvas... here's the actual size of the picture:

Kinda hard to see, maybe easier on mobile? But on desktop this is silly, so I screen grabbed a zoomed in version to avoid resizing and creating a messy full sized picture:

Thank you for taking a look and reading. All the images above are of my own creation. Art for the Hunting Midnight banner below was built by me in Canva, using the Hunting Midnight original cover art.
