That is the popular interpretation of spirituality. However, there is a kind of spirituality that views this world as of divine origin and therefore life here on earth must be treasured and celebrated as a gift.
As to your question about life after death, such a question presupposes the existence of a reality beyond the things that we see and touch. With the dominance of a naturalistic worldview that characterizes the modern age, such a question has no place. Only in a perspective that recognizes the existence of reality beyond nature that such a question make sense.
