I once read an article about introverts and how they can be good at talking to people. Sometimes, it feels like introverts do not like talking.
However, this is not always true. Similarly, I am almost there too. There are times when I cherish loneliness but still I can speak with them whenever necessary.
Another point stated that introverts are people who enjoy their own company but don’t hate chatting with others as well. It refers to me too.
Sometimes, I may just want to have some personal time but meet with friends without feeling awkwardness. On the other hand, like I get my energy back in isolation although it’s not a bad idea to spend time together.
The article also talks about how introverts are observant individuals. They don’t judge people at first sight; they rather observe them.
This goes for me as well. Before speaking to someone, I prefer watch their behavior from afar. And you know what?
The introverts among us do more of listening and less of talking. I also do that. When I speak, people listen although I am not the loudest person in any gathering. This is because I usually think before speaking hence what I say makes sense.
I can also relate to preferring deep conversations over small talk. Like, small talk is okay, but it would be better if we talked about things that really matter to me.
Knowing someone’s drive and their passions fascinates me as well as finding out why they tick. But sometimes initiating a conversation is as easy as starting with some useless questions.
Thinking before talking takes away my time a lot too. It takes me long to respond but when I finally do, it has value to it. Before responding, I consider what the other party has said.I may spend a little bit longer doing so but it pays off.
This happens a lot with me; planning stuff.I like knowing what will take place even though i can decide on an activity at the spur of the moment. Sometimes i come up with sudden plans which surprises my friends and its exciting.Coolness comes from being both ready and flexible at the same time.
To me, it is important that I be real. I don’t like to pretend to be someone I’m not. However, I can be flexible at times too.
Like, my behaviour differs between my relatives and friends but still maintain its essence.
In friendships, quality rather than quantity is key for me.
I don’t have many friends but those few are true ones. These are individuals whom I trust and treasure. Having a few good friends is better than having a bunch of acquaintances.
Respecting personal space is very important in life. I hate when people invade my space hence; do the same to them too. Everybody needs their bubble sometimes you know? It’s all about respect.
Finally, one thing that I try doing is being an empathetic person because even if they don’t tell you how they’re feeling, you can get what their emotions are about so as to relate with them more effectively.
Generally, I believe it is possible for one to be an introvert and still possess good social skills. It’s not changing oneself but rather playing off their strong points in order to fit in with others.
There is a need to strike a balance between solitude and engagement and on this score, I think I perform quite well.
