The Pros and Cons of Autobiographical Blogging

After publishing my first post yesterday, this idea came to my mind:

Yesterday’s activity will be today’s story and today’s activity will be my tomorrow’s story.

I find this idea fascinating not only because I can track my progress on the chain but also because I find an unlimited resource for blogging. This biographical approach may appear contrary to community engagement and might seem boring. However, I have to start somewhere. Perhaps, this direction might change as I grow in my knowledge of blockchain, cryptocurrency, fintech, Hive, and other chains out there.

One advantage of autobiographical blogging is self-reflection. You can check setbacks and accomplishments over time. Though some don’t like introspection, for others they consider it healthy. It’s a form of self-awareness.

Still, others see blogging your story as therapeutic. It gives you an avenue to express your feelings and process your emotion particularly if you suffer wounds in the past. As such, it can be inspiring to others as they relate to your life’s journey. In this way, you build a connection.

Among the many advantages of personal blogging, I find two of them very motivating. First is the improvement of one’s skills especially concerning learning new platforms and digital tools. And the last one has something to do with legacy building. Your blog can serve as a digital record of your life, preserving memories and stories for future generations.

However, despite the many advantages of personal blogging, there are certain drawbacks that one must be aware of. One of them is privacy concerns. Avoid leaking sensitive information particularly those related to financial matters. This might expose you to risk. Another thing is overexposure and vulnerability. I observe that many young generations today, though they are not blogging per se bring the dramas of their personal lives online thus exposing themselves to unnecessary risks. The last thing I think is the monotony of your content and thus it won’t appeal to a larger audience. We can add also the difficulty of monetization. Nevertheless, if you enjoy it just pursue it regardless of minimal incentive.
