So yesterday we wrote the basic pharmacology test first thing in the morning. You know those courses that people overhype to be hard, dangerous and lethal? Basic pharmacology is one of them. We were told scary stories right from the start of how it was easy to fail the course without being careful, from both senior colleagues and the lecturer taking the course.
But right from the start, the course has been a piece of cake. I mean it can be a little confusing and needs self-research, but as long as you study, it's not all it's hyped up to be. So far, I even find it interesting, and it is the only course I have covered.
On Tuesday, while many people were reading and some panicking, I just revised with my friends in the hostel corridor.
We were asking ourselves questions when this girl came to us, our coursemate mate but I didn't know her. I just knew her face and that she was on the same level as us.
One could tell she was one of the unserious ones.
She walked over and asked us, “What's up?, Which test are we having again? Is it Mrs Anyalebechi or Mrs Ibitoroku?"
We all smiled at each other after the question. It was like we all thought the same thing “If you aren't ready to study, why bother asking?"
“It's Mrs Ibitoroku," my cousin replied.
"Did she give notes or study materials? Is this her note?” She took my cousin's note and flipped through it with a serious face.
“Can I get the note from you?" She asked my cousin.
“My camera is bad so I can't send it because you won't even see it."
“Zainab, your camera is better. If you have time, you can send it."
“Okay,"
“Let me give you my WhatsApp number so you can send it as soon as you are chanced, thank you.”
She gave me her phone number and left.
I snapped the note there and then so I wouldn't forget later, and sent it to her immediately.
I occasionally checked if she had seen the photo, and it was not until a few hours after 8 in the evening that it showed a double tuck, meaning she saw it.
I was watching Instagram reels when a message from her popped up on my screen.
Her: What time is the test tomorrow morning?
Me 8 am-10 am
Her okay
The next morning. Students were already in class waiting for the test. The lecturer came early and started the test at 8 am on the dot. She didn't allow anyone to enter again after she started. Latecomers begged and begged, but she still refused. I wouldn't blame her because she always warns about how she takes time seriously, and it is the same thing she does for her classes so I didn't expect her to do less for her test.
After the test, some people were grumbling, saying the question was tricky, but they probably just didn't read because the question wasn't tricky in any way.
So I came out of the class and met my friend who wrote in another class. We were talking about how the test was when the girl I sent the note to walked past me. Now, normally I don't know her and I wouldn't care if she just passed like a stranger because to me she was.
But our eyes met, and this girl glared at me.
In my mind, I was like “what the hell?" If the test didn't go well for you it isn't my fault. Even though you didn't want to thank me because obviously you aren't in a good mood, rolling your eyes and glaring at me was too far.
I was still shocked when my cousin came and tapped me with a serious face, “Did Sofia tell you anything?”
“Nope, she didn't say anything, instead she looked at me like…”
"What time did you tell her the test was?”
"8 am,"
“She said you told her 9 am."
"Jesus!_wait, let me check whether I typed the wrong thing.” I even became confused and suspected I made a typo I didn't notice.
I checked, and it was 8 am in the chat.
“See," I showed her the message I sent that said 8 am
“Where is she? Come and show her. Before she blames you for what you didn't do," my cousin said
My cousin and I walked up to her.
"Did you check the message she sent you well?” My cousin asked,
“Please just forget it, I have missed the test, and already there is nothing you can do,” she said and rolled her eyes
“No, check your WhatsApp. Because this is what I sent you.” I showed her the message, “I don't know what you saw on your phone.”
“No problem, just leave it," she said with an awkward face and walked away.
She probably made a mistake and didn't want to accept her mistake. But thank God I could see her true colors without even knowing her. So in the future, I can't make any mistake of associating myself with her again.

There are people who like to blame others for their own mistakes without accepting responsibility. At least you had some evidence to put your mind at ease.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Excellent Friday.
Like really, people find it so hard to own up to their mistakes
Lol, there are people like that, they just prepare to blame someone else for a mistake they made than accept they made a mistake. Its good you were able to prove yourself that you sent her a 8am, else she would have told everyone you were the reason she missed the test. It's not hard to know unserious people in this case. 🙄. It's her fault she missed the test and no one else's
I never really understand her type of people that can't take responsibility for their actions
