Her reflection.

Smiling for a brief moment, Daisy cleaned her right eye with the tip of her middle finger to stop the tears that were almost touching her cheek.

"Wow, this is so nice," she said with a chuckle before walking out the front door.

Sounds of feet echoed behind her, and a familiar voice kept following her, begging for her to listen and trying to explain what had happened, but Daisy wasn't ready to stop and have a talk. She walked faster until the voice stopped and calmness befell her as she waved a cab to take her to her safest place on Earth... the sea.

Looking at the sky, Daisy chuckled as it fit her mood. Dark and cloudy with an aftermath of drizzle after the heavy rainfall.

As the cab moved toward her destination, Daisy felt the calmness in the air wash over her. It was soothing and helped freshen not just her breath but her mind as well. She felt a bit alive and drawn from what had occurred some minutes back.

"We are here." The cab man said, waking Daisy up to her reality, and with a smile, she thanked the man before walking toward where her heart led her.

The walk to the sea was therapeutic for her. It made her mind clearer, and the moment her skin came in contact with the sea sand, her lips curled up in a smile as she walked straight to the waters. Deeping her legs into the sand in the water, she stood tall as she folded her hands.

Closing her eyes, she felt the air on her skin rise as the waves of the sea crashed on her feet. Memories of what happened some minutes ago came in full force as the wave of the sea hit her countlessly. She chuckled dryly before letting out a big sigh.

"Well, I guess I have found a way to keep him out of my life, too. At least, he is alive." She said with a sad smile.

Letting out a huge sigh, Daisy opened her eyes to see the moon shining directly on her. Looking around her, she noticed the sea water was clearer and by the light of the moon, a figure standing... at her back?

Moving her feet suddenly, Daisy staggered, and with a slip, her butt hit the water. A cold yelp sound came from her lips as she stood up abruptly.

"Was I mistaken?" She questioned herself. "I could have sworn I saw the reflection of someone behind me just now... I... I" moving around, she stood still all of a sudden as the glimpse of the figure she saw earlier came forth again as her eyes caught the sea again.

Taking in a lot of breath, Daisy shuddered in disbelief as she turned her face around and saw that the reflection of the person she saw mimicked her flow.

"Who are you?" she asked the reflection and was gobsmacked at the answer given.

"I am you." The reflection replied.

Looking at her physical appearance, Daisy shook her head. No, no! She can't be this person. she said mentally.

"Yes, you are." The reflection countered.

Placing her hands on her lips, Daisy gulped.

"Your thoughts are mine, so don't be afraid." The reflection replied.

"Don't be afraid? For real! Have you seen you? You look like a flower, beautiful, enchanted, and there's this strong aura coming from you and... and you said you are me? Like me? Do you even know what you are saying?" Daisy sputtered out in a rush.

"Curly blonde hair gotten from mom and piercing blue eyes from dad. The only child of the family before your parents passed away in a tragic accident. You become so lonely and push everyone away despite staying with grandma. No friends and no one to love because you blame yourself for mom and dad's death. However, the moment you started to heal a little and started caring for grandma, she died too, leaving you alone in a world too big for a girl who just turned sixteen to find her bearing." The reflection replied.

Biting her lower lips, Daisy looked at the reflection before closing her eyes to let the single hot tear slide down her burning cheek.

"... you missed the important part. The part where bad things happen on my eight birthday. I... I calculated it and, and.." cleaning her running nose with her hands, she swallowed deeply before speaking again. "Grandma died 8 years after my parents died... isn't that enough reason for a curse? Mom and dad died on my eight year birthday on a rainy night after work just to get home on time to be there for me and... grandma... she didn't even wake up to wish me happy birthday and now... Him! He cheated on me with his secretary. I... I." Blowing out air from her mouth, Daisy held her chest tightly before letting out more tears.

"I know. I know that is why you wanted to break up with him today so that he won't meet such fate either because tomorrow is your birthday. I know how hard and painful it was to leave your room after crying so badly on how to end things with him. You are not cursed, Daisy. You aren't. Life happens, and sometimes, things seem to be a coincidence. Your parents died because it was their time, and so did your grandma, and that doesn't mean everyone around you will go with such fate. No... no! They won't." The reflection replied.

"If you look deeply into yourself, with no doubts, you would see that I am you. The aura you said I have is the strong love and care we grew up with. Exactly how mom and dad would like you to be in the future because it depicts your name. A flower, tender, enchanting, and despite every season that hits it, it still stands strong and lights up the world." The reflection added.

Sitting on the wet sand, Daisy closed her eyes and let her breath sync with the flow of the wind. Her heart followed the rhythm, and her mind was calm. Allowing the presence of nature into her soul, she felt a spark in her heart, and her mind was clearer. Opening her eyes, she saw things more beautifully, appreciating everything she set her eyes on until...

"Woo!" A faint gasp left her lips at the figure beside her.

"What are you doing here?" Daisy asked calmly, still sitting on the sand.

"I..." The voice started. "I will never cheat on you, Daisy. You know that well. You are everything to me, and I can explain what happened. Please, hear me out." The voice pleaded.

Nodding her head, Daisy gave him a go.

"I called her when I noticed a file was missing from the documents she gave me yesterday, and she said it was with her and she would bring it over. A minute later, I heard a knock on my door. I opened it and didn't bother locking it up because I knew she'd be leaving immediately, but I saw that she was wet from head to toe. I didn't know it was raining at all. I wouldn't have called her." Getting closer to Daisy, the manly figure stopped.

"I asked her why she came despite the rain after taking the documents off her, and all she did was cry. I didn't understand, so I got closer to her, and then she started shivering. Everything happened so fast and.. her body was on me then, it registered on me what was going on. The moment I placed hands on her chest to push her off, you came in and saw us. After running after you and seeing how you took a taxi, I came back to my home and asked her why she pulled a stunt like that, and all she said was gibberish. She loves me and other bullshit. I chased her away and sacked her with immediate effect before taking my car to find you." The voice explained.

"The lover app you downloaded on my phone had your location, so I came here." He added.

Stretching her hands toward him, he pulled her up and hugged her.

"I love you, Chris." Daisy responded.

"I love you too, Daisy." Chris replied, hugging her tightly.

Your story showed that bad things are a coincidence. It doesn't mean we are the cause of it. It doesn't make us difficult to love. Your story is wonderful.
