A friend is someone who cares about our well-being genuinely; they not only do that, but a friend also stands by us during the good times and the tough ones. A friend is more or less a replica of us. And anyone who finds a good friend has found one of the best gifts anyone could have, because a good friend most times can be more important to an individual than even their siblings and family members. Seeing how important friends can be, what traits do I then want someone I can be a friend to to possess? Below I'd talk about it and much more.

One of the very first traits my friend must possess is loyalty, and that's because I see it as one of the most important criteria to be identified as my friend. Loyalty is the ability for someone to stand by you during good and difficult times; a friend who's loyal will definitely be trustworthy, and they'll also be honest with you and not lie just to make you feel good. Most of all, a loyal friend won't abandon you when the situations get tough, and that's why I'm picking loyalty as the first trait my friend should possess.
Secondly is integrity. When I call someone a friend, I'd want a situation where their word is always their word, not that they'll say one thing now and the next minute they're saying something else entirely. A friend who has integrity will also have their words always matching their actions. Why do I like this trait and want my friend to possess it? It's because such a friend would be an honest individual; they'll also be dependable, and most of all, they're the kind of person who'll do the right thing even when no one is there, including observing them.
Lastly, one of the traits I'd like my wife to possess is empathy. I wouldn't want a situation where I have a friend who doesn't have human feelings and can put themselves in the shoes of someone else just to know how they feel so they can help out in any way possible, even if it's with something as simple as words of encouragement. I want someone I call my friend to possess these traits because such a friend would be someone who cares genuinely about how I feel; they'll also be a great listener and not someone who rushes to judge and the like.
That's about it on some of the traits I'd love for my friends to possess. What trait do you want your own friends to possess, and why?
