The Beauty of Intimate Weddings

When it comes to weddings, we all know it's amazing and a beautiful act of love seeing two people come together in union to become one; that's one of the best acts of commitment there is. And when it comes to wedding ceremonies, different people have different opinions on the kind of wedding they want; some want a big wedding with lots of people, while others want a small wedding with a handful of people. What type of wedding do I like personally? Below I'll state my perspective.

You see, through the years I've always been a reserved person who doesn't really enjoy too much of everything. I just like to have my peace and do things in my simple way, and that is still how I feel till this very moment. I understand the fact that most ladies aren't like that; they prefer to have an elaborate wedding, and I understand it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing or so it ought to be. But then, personally, I prefer a small wedding. I want a wedding so small that I'll know basically everyone in the wedding. I remember telling my fiancé, now wife, while planning our wedding that I don't want an elaborate wedding; in fact, I said I'd prefer if the highest population isn't more than 10, which is just me, her, and our immediate family and a few friends.

Did our wedding turn out to be small, as I wanted? Well, not really as I would have liked, and the reason for that isn't far-fetched; you see, down here in Nigeria, most parents often feel like they're the ones celebrating when their children get married, and so for that reason, they would want to invite all of their friends and make sure the wedding is as big as possible. In my case both parents did invite people, but unlike how I would have loved to have had about just 20 people, we ended up having about 70 people at my wedding, which is kind of moderate, especially when compared to most weddings, which are big and you'll have no less than 200 guests.

But overall, like I said, I actually love and prefer a small wedding, even though my wedding was somewhat bigger than I wanted or anticipated. But then it's all good; everyone who comes came to share and witness our beautiful moments out of the depths of their love for us.
