Who stole the tray of meat? Why would you spill a plate of stew on my white dress? ……it is your entire generation that are begging on the streets……. These were the last articulated words between the plus sized caterer and the slender looking male guest before the chaotic fight escalated.
Why on earth would a slim gentle looking guy pick a fight with a 5.4ft plus size lady in the first place? My thoughts were already on a marathon and I wondered what could be the mental state of the celebrant who had hosted us.
I am sure you are wondering how the entire scene started, just relax as I am about to narrate the shortest unexpected fight scene.
Owambes (Yoruba party) are always great to attend during the weekends and nothing beats the Yorubas and their parties. The music, the fashion sense and then the food…. oh my! You need to attend at least one in order to understand the feeling.
Unfortunately, my last owambe on a very good Saturday turned from sweet to sour. I had attended with a few of my friends and you can trust me to not disappoint with my looks……shey na me go carry last ni...lol. we arrived early and had a lot to eat even before most of the other guests. The displays of several dishes were so delighting, from Amala and Ewedu soup to pounded yam and egusi soup to Ofada rice and of course the star of the day, Naija Jollof Rice.
Amala and Ewedu
There was plenty to eat and drink as the entire formalities, prayers and dance for the celebrant had ended, all that was left was eating, dancing and chatting.
Now here is is how this guy picked a fight with his direct opposite, a seemingly wrong choice I must say. I was right at a corner taking some pictures with friends when I heard a loud bang! The pot of stew was lying faced down and a young man who I could now barely different if his outfit was plain or patterned stood by thr side with a lump of meat halfway into his mouth…Aaaaahhh! Mogbe! Oga you will pay…. screamed the catering lady as she pounced on the young who was at this point trying to wipe the very hot Yoruba pepper from his eyes. I really felt pity for him, now he has Yoruba in his eyes and a plus sized lady sitting on him…. even my Nigerian mother did not beat me like this. He was really disadvantaged.
I really wanted interfere but you don’t expect a baby girl to ruin her steeze with Ofada stew.
My friend and I
That was how the party ended for and I couldn’t take pictures of the whole scene because I wanted to keep my looks safe.
I did not loose on this day as I had already eaten to my satisfaction before the owambe ended in a fight.
I hope you enjoy the rest of our weekend or trying attending an owambe Saturday.

Lol, so at the end of the day, you didn't fill us with full gist. My ears were already open and my eyes wide as I read along. I didn't want to miss out on any word. Lol
