When Appearances Deceives

I am someone who believes that people have their reasons for behaving in certain ways they want to, even if it doesn't make sense or I don't agree with their actions. I am a non-judgmental person, so I try as much as possible to understand where others are coming from or why they do the things they do. However, just yesterday I heard a shocking revelation about a friend's boss, whom I know or thought I knew very well.

For close to three months my friend has been going home very late. When I asked, he said it's because of their boss; they can't leave the office if he's still around or he didn't grant them the permission to leave. At first I thought probably he was having issues with his wife; that was his reason for staying late in the office, but to my greatest surprise, it's because the boss has a girlfriend in the office, and he doesn't want her to be alone at night. So in order to keep her company, he finds ways to engage everyone else or uses his authority to keep them at work until she's finished. Although most of the staff don't really know about this yet.

But what really caught me off guard was what I learned about his personal life. It seems he's quite the ladies' man. I was told by my friend that he has asked almost all the young women in the office out and also takes young girls out while his innocent wife and kids patiently wait for his safe return at home. I seriously find this behavior unprofessional.

I know someone might be wondering why I am shocked because it's like a norm in our society today for some married men to flirt. Well, I am shocked because he doesn't look like it; he looks calm and very religious. He is the type of man that doesn't take his wedding band off his finger. He has the look of a man that wouldn't even raise an eyebrow when a girl passed by, let alone sleep around with different girls.

What never ceases to surprise me is how some people can lead double lives; they show the world one face while hiding their true nature.
