Rules Are Made To Guide Us Not Control Us

I believe rules and directions exist to provide structure and guidance in our lives. They are there to hold society together to a large extent to ensure there's order and fairness. I am so sure that if there were no rules in the world, the whole place would be chaotic, as everyone would likely want to act based on their own desires, and this would often times be at the expense of others. Rules are made to create boundaries that protect us and promote harmony in a community if it must thrive.

I personally believe that I am not exempt from rules, and no one is because rules apply to everyone equally, and respecting them is also a part of being a responsible member of that society or organization.

Notwithstanding, I also know for sure that rules are not always perfect; they are created by humans, and we all know that humans can be biased. While I am one of those that religiously follow rules and directions, I also religiously go against them when I know that it would cause harm to myself or others or it's against my values. For example, if a rule is set in a way that requires me to act in a way that would compromise my integrity or put someone else in danger, after I weigh the consequences, I would make a decision that is guided by my conscience rather than following blind obedience.

I believe rules should be made to serve the greater good, and when they don’t, they become oppressive, unjust, or harmful, and at this point, it is very important to question them.

Ultimately, rules should guide us, not control us. Growing up my parents had a lot of rules set at home, and they felt unfair to me because I was restricted from doing a lot of things my peers seemed to be doing. Then as an adult now I am grateful for most of those rules; while they felt rigid then, they helped shape and guide my principles. So rules should be tools for creating fairness and safety, not barriers to doing what is right.

I think it's good for parents to set limits, which is why the best education starts at home. It's sad how nowadays it seems that many children are controlled only by devices with an internet connection.

Rules are very important as they help us set boundaries to things and keep us in check sometimes.

Are there organizations without rules and regulations?
Rules govern the practice of our living. It is important to keep ourselves in check if we want to grow.
