IT ALL KINDA HAPPENED

In my junior secondary school days up till my senior secondary school days I was a book fanatic, I loved books (novels/ storybook) ,so much to the extent that I have would drop my textbooks in exchange of novels I wanted to read and when I'm done I'll get my textbooks back then return the storybook/ novel. It also graduated from that to me giving out my lunch money in exchange for a book to read (like I was subscribing for time) and I really enjoyed it all. The last straw that broke the carmel's back was when I fought a girl for her own book she refused to give to me. According to her her grandma wouldn't allow it (she lived with her grandma) I begged this girl a couple of times and became aggressive out of frustration and when my parents heard of it they beat the hell out of me and warned never to see me borrowing books from anybody, that I should read the one I have and the one they can afford they would buy for me but if they can't I should stay like that.

It all kinda happened

That night I was reading a novel and there was power outage and I lit a candle, put it in my bed stand and continued reading, my Dad came in and warned me not to sleep of without putting it off and I promised I wouldn't. He even caught me dozing off and put the candle out, I waited for him to go to sleep and lit the candle and continued reading.

Fire! Fire!! Fire!! That was all I heard next, the bed frame I was lying on got burnt, all the clothes in the baskets on the floor got burnt like it was real fire my Dad struggled and managed to put out the fire and he turned looking at me with bloodshot eyes. "The next time I would see you reading a novel I would cut if both hands" and he meant it and that was how everything I had for reading novels died immediately until I got into the university in my 300 level. I saw pain in his eyes, I knew very well that if he had decided to lay his hands on me at that very moment I would have died.
