Sure I like kids, I am just a big one myself, I probably like kids more than most adults but like anything there is a limit.
I suppose I did not really know until I had one of my own and started raising a child, it was a bit of a shock to the system, even though I thought I was ready. No in instruction manual and lots of ever changing situations, you have to be on your toes and good with multi tasking and thinking.
I always seem to be building stuff with Lego and blocks when young ones are around.
Maybe it is not so much that I like kids but I seem good with them. It really stood out during the schooling years and I ended up coaching, just my local schools and clubs in two different sports. I only got involved because I could not handle watching somebody struggling. For me it was all about being hard but fair. Kids need boundaries and rules with simple reasons and explanations, that make sense.
It was not all plain sailing and I got a few things wrong from time to time but overall when I showed up at the school or a local club people were happy I was there. Probably because as a volunteer, I was a little bit outside the system and could be a bit harder and had more control if the group was not too big.
I have a big deep voice and we would just run laps or do push up until everyone was focused and paying attention.
So which sports did you coach? Rugby judging from the pic, and?
The photo is Australian rules AFL and Touch football which is like Rugby without the tackle which is very popular out here with the younger kids.
Aha! Cool!
