Weekend Engagement Week 272// A Drawing of My First Date.

My first date happened back in school during my final year. It was on a weekend when everyone was free from lectures and school activities. My room was usually the meeting point where friends from the compound gathered to gist and interact.

One day, we were having a heated conversation between the guys and the ladies. The ladies were saying that guys were no longer romantic, and the guys argued back that they were even more romantic than the ladies. The argument dragged for a long time until one of the guys suggested an idea that the guys should take the girls out on a date that day to prove it. The names of the ladies were written on small folded papers, shuffled and each guy had to pick one. Whoever’s name you picked was the person you would take on a date.

Lucky for me, the name I picked was my crush, the girl I had admired for a long time. I couldn’t believe it. Just like everyone else, I called her privately and we fixed the location. I dressed in my best outfit that evening. Honestly, I checked myself in the mirror like ten times to know if I'm really okay to go out. My perfume didn’t smell strong enough to me that day, I had to borrowed my friend’s own and sprayed it on top of mine.

To be honest, I was nervous. It was my first time going on a date especially when it has to do with my crush and I was overthinking it, what to say, how to act, and the kind of impression I would give. I told myself, relax bro, calm down, don’t go and embarrass yourself.

When we finally met at the location, all the nervousness disappeared and it felt like a bold version of me had taken over me. I pulled out a seat for her to seat and asked her to make an order. To be on safe side, I had to borrowed my friend’s credit card as backup just in case she ordered much. Luckily for me, she didn’t order much.

The conversation went so well. We talked about hobbies, interests, and personal stuff, and the flow was just smooth. I was even impressing myself.

Then, right in the middle of our talk, a security man walked straight to our table. He looked at me seriously and asked, me if I was the owner of a SUV car blocking another car from passing. I almost laughed. Like me, SUV? I told him no, and before I could say more, my date smiled and said she admired my composure. She said she was surprised the security man came to me first instead of the other men around. Inside me, I was just thinking, Wow, God is working overtime for me today.

When we ere done, I ordered a and dropped us both at home. The next day, the ladies shared their experiences with the rest of the group, pointing out what they liked and didn’t like about the dates. When it was my date’s turn, her words just blew my mind. She said it was the best date she had experienced in a very long time.
And that was how my first date went.

Thank you admin for this initiative and thank you all for reading

You were lucky that your crush's name came up on the paper; that probably helped you give it your best shot. Do you think you would have tried so hard if you had been paired with another girl you didn't like as much?

Oh, and by the way, your drawings are very good; you seem very gentlemanly 👍

I think I would have probably tried to do my best if I was paired with another lady that I may not like much, since the whole idea behind the date was to prove a point to the ladies that the guys are more romantic. Though having my crush as my date gave me more zeal to prepare and to give my best shot.

Thank you very much @verdesmeralda for the nice words. I appreciate 🙏. Greetings!!
