A Blessed Weekend: Visiting Simala Shrine And Archbishop Teofilo Camomot's Tomb

Hello, dear Hivers!

I had a wonderful and blessed weekend because we were able to visit Simala Shrine in Sibonga, Cebu, and the tomb of Archbishop Teofilo Camomot in Carcar City.

It was a simple trip, but it was full of beautiful moments, prayers, and unforgettable experiences that I want to share with you all.

Our Visit to Simala Shrine

Since it was Saturday, we already expected that there would be many visitors at Simala Shrine. When we arrived, there were really a lot of people, so we decided not to go inside the church anymore.

Instead, we just offered prayers and lit candles.

For those who are planning to visit Simala Shrine, you can buy candles at the side of the church. There are different candle colors, and each color has its own meaning or prayer intention.

Before lighting your candle, there is also a prayer guide that you can read. I think this is very helpful, especially for first-time visitors.

Since we were not in a hurry, we wanted to make the most of our visit. Simala Shrine is really a beautiful place, and there are many nice spots where you can take pictures.

Visitors are allowed to take pictures outside the church, but taking pictures inside is not allowed while the Mass is ongoing.

We enjoyed taking pictures and appreciating the beauty of the place before heading to our next destination.

Visiting the Tomb of Archbishop Teofilo Camomot in Carcar City

After our visit to Simala Shrine, we decided to stop by the tomb of Archbishop Teofilo Camomot, which is located at the shrine and museum in Carcar City, Cebu.

But before going there, we decided to have lunch first because it was already noon.

After enjoying our lunch in Carcar, we went straight to the shrine where Archbishop Teofilo Camomot's tomb is located.

For those who are not familiar with him, Archbishop Teofilo Camomot was a well-known Filipino priest and archbishop who was born in Carcar, Cebu, on March 3, 1914.

He was known for his strong faith in God, his simple way of living, and his kindness toward poor people and those in need.

When we entered the area where his tomb is located, we were not allowed to take pictures inside.

There were also testimonies from people who believed they had received miracles through their prayers and devotion to Archbishop Camomot.

Reading and seeing these testimonies reminded me of something that happened to one of my high school classmates.

A Miracle Story That I Will Never Forget

I personally believe that miracles can happen because of what happened to my high school classmate many years ago.

During that time, my classmate became seriously ill. If I remember correctly, it was something like bone cancer, although I am not completely sure about the exact illness.

His condition was very serious. He became extremely thin and weak, and I honestly thought that he would never recover.

Her family was also losing hope because her medical expenses were very expensive.

According to her older sister, someone advised their family to visit the tomb of Archbishop Teofilo Camomot and offer prayers.

However, my classmate was already too weak to stand or travel, so her older sister decided to bring his T-shirt instead.

When her sister arrived at the tomb, she prayed sincerely and asked God for a miracle and for his brother to recover.

After praying, she gently rubbed the T-shirt against the glass of Archbishop Camomot's tomb.

According to her story, something unexpected happened.

She said that she suddenly saw something that looked like smoke coming from the T-shirt.

She was surprised and immediately looked around to check if other people had also seen it. However, she said that she seemed to be the only one who noticed it.

After that experience, she went home and did not wash the T-shirt.

Instead, she used the same T-shirt to gently rub her brother's body while continuing to pray for his recovery.

As time passed, my classmate slowly recovered from his illness.

When I heard about his recovery, I was really amazed because I remembered how serious his condition had been.

For me and his family, his recovery was truly a blessing.

Of course, I cannot explain exactly how it happened, but this experience made my belief in the power of prayer even stronger.

Miracles do happen!

A Weekend Full of Faith and Blessings

Our visit to Simala Shrine and Archbishop Teofilo Camomot's tomb was more than just a simple weekend trip.

It was also a time to pray, reflect, and thank God for all the blessings we have received.

I am really happy that we had the chance to visit these two special places in Cebu.

Sometimes, we become so busy with our daily lives that we forget to take a moment to pray and appreciate the blessings around us.

This trip reminded me that no matter how difficult life becomes, we should never lose hope and faith in God.

That's all for my weekend experience, dear Hivers!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. I hope you enjoyed reading about our visit and the story I shared.
