Hello people, wellcome to my blog. Today, I am going to take you through my weekend experience.
I registered with the intention of attending the forth annual alpha global teacher's conference about a month ago. Then things started happening and I started having the feelings that I may not be able to attend the event.
First,it was the Lagos State Government announcement that almost spoilt things for me when they announced the date for the forthcoming local government election for the supposed date of the alpha global event.
Caroline Popoola the host of the alpha global teacher's conference had to move the date of the event to a more nearer date. The new date was not good for me because I already had things lined up for that date.
I had intended to drop my second son in school for his BECE examination then go to Osodi market to buy some fabric which I intended to use in making an outfit that I would waer for this year's forthcoming graduation and prize giving event which will be coming up at a later date.
As it was, I had to choose between attending the conference, taking my child to school and going for fabric shopping. Guys, I went for the conference and I did not regret it. Here are what I did to make sure every other businesses I had was taken care of.
I pleaded with my husband to take our son to school and he obliged,I sent a sister that planned going to the market to help me buy the fabric I needed though she was angry because we had intended to go together,at the end of the day, she agreed to help and I was happy.
On Saturday which was the day of the event I had to get ready and leave the house at thirty minutes past four in the morning because of the distance between Badagry where I live and Landmark event Center Victoria Island which is the venue of the event.
I got to the venue at some minutes past seven even though the event would not be starting till nine in the morning. The advantage of arriving early made my registration faster and I was able to secure a seat on the first row which was very close to the podium.
We were lectured by six different influencial teachers from Tope Adenuga who talk about being a confident teacher, to Fii Stephen who spoke about being a tech confident teacher, and Dr Abimbola Ogundere who spoke about reflection and how to improve our productivity as a confident teacher.
The formal Minister of Education Obey Ekekwelesili who talked about education as a system and the need to operate it as one, Dr Joy ISA in an interview spoke about the need for self development and looking good as a teacher.
Lastly, Mrs Ceroline Popoola the host gave practical approach to creating teaching aids from the things around us like stone, leaves, basket and so on after accessing the risk.
After six hours of learning, Mrs Popoola gave the vote of thanks and refreshments were served while award given was going on.
This experience is one am not letting go for a while because it was packed with a lot of positive vibes. Come next year 2026 alpha global teacher's conference, I am going to be there to experience teaching at its very best.
