The Worst Advice I Have Ever Received

There is always a situation in life when people will come to you for an advice especially when they are looking up to you as an elderly person who has the experience or as a mentor who can teach and guide them successfully. And to understand this better, we have the good advice and we have the bad advice.

As for me, the worst advice I have ever received was when someone told me “just leave everything to luck oo, no stress yourself working too hard, if it is meant for you it will come.” At first, that advice sound easy and sweet, because who no like to relax? No one I even tried to follow it for some time.

To follow such advice I find out it was a big mistake. Depending only on luck without effort is like waiting for rain in dry season without planting anything. I wasted time thinking things will fall into place on their own. I missed some chances because I didn’t put in energy though I put maybe not enough I just believed destiny will push it to me. It was when I saw my mates moving forward that I realized life does not work that way. And the reason for this is I had many trials so that I could play football for big club in Nigeria maybe from there I can play internationally.

What I learned from that wrong advice is simple effort is highly important. Yes, prayer and destiny matter, but if you don’t wake up and do the work, nothing will happen. Even Bible and Qur’an both say work of your hand shall bless you, which simply means you must work so now I know better, luck only meet you on the way when you are already moving.

At times, persistent really matters a lot in doing things, that's what one do and take him five months to see good result and it will take another person a year. Such is life, if you want a good result in anything you are doing, firstly you must have a strong believe.

In conclusion, Words can push someone forward or backward. The worst advice can waste your time, but the best advice can change your life.
