We had some of the best weather you could possibly imagine this past weekend. That's relative I guess. While some people enjoy the blazing hot weather, others are happy living in the frigid chill of Northern Hemisphere winter. We had neither of those this past weekend. The days got into the 75 to 85 degree range with not a single cloud in the sky. Even better, the evenings and nights got down into the low 50's which means you get to keep your windows open all night. In addition to that, there was a nice steady breeze that kept the hot air pleasant. We spent a lot of time out on our deck.

Actually, we started things off on Saturday morning driving down to the Flint, MI area to watch our nephew play baseball with his summer travel team. It was a rough go for them losing both their games on Saturday by a pretty significant margin, but he put in a lot of effort and I was proud to see him continue to play hard despite how badly they were getting beat. I think it's odd that leagues like this don't seem to have a run rule because when you are losing 17 to 0 after two innings, they should just call it at that point. It's not benefitting anyone to keep playing. That's just my two cents anyway.

After the baseball game we headed back to our house, picked up some Chinese food, and played cards with @mrsbozz's parents. She had been asked what she wanted for her upcoming birthday, and that's what she asked for, so that's what she got. We played a game called Hand and Foot that her parents taught us late last year. It's a pretty fun game, and we have both picked up on it quite well. I was paired with my mother in law while @mrsbozz teamed up with her father. We crushed them. We didn't even bother counting our points on the last hand because there was no way my wife and her dad could catch up with us.

As I said, we spent a lot of time on our deck this weekend, which is good because pretty soon camping season is going to be in full swing and we won't be home as much to enjoy it. It seems everyone was out enjoying the nice weather, the street in front of our house was packed with cars due to most of the neighbors having people over.
Of course, the idiots lighting off fireworks for no reason at 1 in the morning wasn't very welcome, but what can you do I guess...

Sunday morning we got up to go for a walk at our local walking path. Unfortunately, we found it was closed and didn't open until 8 AM. Since it was closer to 7 AM we weren't going to sit around waiting, so we found another path to go walking on. We came across this massive moth towards the end of our mile and a half walk. He was about the size of a golf ball if you smashed it flat. No lie! He was huge!
After our walk, I went to church with my parents then over to their house to have lunch. After that, I headed home so I could do some weeding in the garden and mow the lawn. We then spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on the deck enjoying the beautiful day and the delightful breeze.

I fired up the Weber kettle towards dinner time and grilled some chicken breasts that we had started marinating earlier in the morning. The ones at the bottom are a harissa honey blend that we threw together, and the ones on top are a fajita marinade that we buy in the jar from our local grocery chain.

We are having fajitas another night later in the week, but last night we had our harissa honey chicken Mediterranean bowls. A bit of rice in the bottom, harissa honey chicken, lettuce, avocado, tomato and cucumber blend, pickled onions, a yogurt herb sauce, avocado, and some feta cheese. It was pretty amazing. The only thing it was missing was a dab of hummus.
I'd seriously eat this every day if I could. It's just that good with so many amazing flavors mixing together. Plus, besides the rice it's pretty healthy for you too. A lot better than some of the other stuff I could be putting in my body I guess.
Overall, it was a pretty perfect weekend. How was yours?

What a wonderful weekend it was. The best moments in life are the ones spent with family. That Mediterranean salad looks absolutely delicious—I can totally see why you’d want to eat it every day. It’s also great to see your nephew continuing to give it his all despite the tough games; that kind of determination is worth so much more than the score. You had a wonderful weekend. The photos are fantastic as always. Congratulations.
Thank you! It was a really great time. Hopefully just the first of many this summer!
