Greetings to everyone here on hive and also to the #weekendExperience community. We are given mind blowing topics to pick out from by @galenkp and this is my entry post.
The question is do you watch pornography and how has internet pornography affect the expectations and behaviours of people in the soceity
Growing up, pornography was easily accessible to me, from the playboy magazines owned by elder cousins to the pornography videos that were so easy to get from the internet.
I was 14 years old when I stumbled on my cousin's playboy magazine, which had illicit pictures of ladies exposing themselves. I knew it was bad, but I still kept on looking at them and was caught by my dad. As an African dad, he took the scripture “spare the rod and spoil the child” way too seriously, so I got the beating of a lifetime. It didn't take the intervention of the Holy Spirit for me to make a decision never to look at such things in my life again lol.
But it didn't stop others from seeing it. When I got into the university, I saw how people watched pornography and didn't feel it was bad, then had it on their devices and even had subscriptions to Pornhub.
Although they are unable to perceive it, it did have an impact on them. Some started mastubating and developed an addiction to it, which had an impact on their concentration, relationships, and academic performance.
The behavioural changes it on the society
It affects your social life, you wont be able to interact with people
It kills the self esteem of people
It exposes underaged to sexual activities
It gives space to enable pedophilia activities.
You become sexually unsatisfied
It reduces your IQ
You become emotionally unstable
It affects your sexual life.
The negative effects of pornography on our society outweigh the positive ones, which is why it should be restricted on the internet, especially for minors.
