Happy Valentine's Everyone! How are you spending your day? I'm home, having a very regular Monday and trying to be busy.
Since being married, my husband and I have been winging it and learning on the go. I think we have it easy mostly and we understand each other better on a daily. We have conversations around money very often especially about investments, I don't think anyone can be around my husband and not be motivated to invest.
I'm grateful for having someone that's got financial literacy on lock because that's a major determinant in relationships. Love is definitely not enough when it comes to finances. It's going to be a big problem when either one of the couple is unwise with money. There's always going to be a rift when there's a mismanagement no matter how little the income source is. I've seen cases close to home that even led to a divorce.
We're not heavy spenders and we save more than we eat, complementing each other nicely. My husband's got more money than me but we have an understanding that works for us. We joke around a lot about the other person landing a good-paying 6 figure salary job so the other person can be a stay-at-home parent. That would really be something.
This is our first Valentine as a married couple and I was worried about the gifting part because I know my husband quite well. I don't care about today but he's not very clear on that since this is the first time we're together proper on a Valentine's day.
He doesn't care about today but he was worried I care and he struggled to think of what to get me, keeping in mind that he would have to get me a birthday gift next month also. I was in turn worried that he would get me a gift thinking I care and I would end up looking stupid for not getting him anything.
Last week, I had the talk with him and he heaved a sigh of relief. We're not sentimental about today and pop culture has influenced neither of us so it is clear, no gifting today.
We have a lifetime together and just maybe our views might change someday. It would be fun throwing him off with a gift next Valentine's though, it would be a total Sheldon Cooper situation on gifting.
I don't know what all the fuss is about Valentine's this year in Nigeria. It seems to be really intense this year and everyone's talking about receiving gifts and less about gifting others. You have to be a gifter to expect gifts from others, even then, most gifters never receive gifts.
I think the whole point of today is to think of what we can give out rather than what we receive and it doesn't have to be a romantic relationship. I'm big on 'I saw this, and I thought of you' types of gifts and I hope I can make enough money to be able to gift my partner all of his big-eyed cravings. That's why y'all need to pray for my portfolio yo!
Happy Valentine's again to you, married, single, situationships, and all types of ships out there. I hope you find the love you seek and that it's with someone invested in your growth as much as you are in theirs. Have a splendid day!

This is so beautiful, I think one of the most important things in a relationship is communication, and most relationships lack that.
Exactly. It bridges so many gaps.

I thought I was the only one who noticed! Big fuss about nothing, really. Love should be celebrated every day, all the time. More so, it's blessed to give than to receive! 😄
Happy valentine's day to you!
A very serious paranran wants to happen somewhere in this country 😆
Lol! Are they going to play in celebration of love? It's Valentine's Day after all
