Part 4 + reward

In yesterday’s post, I told you that before setting off on another adventure, I was going to improve my thievery stats and gear up for the next destination. The merchant is busy fighting off some thieves, so I’m taking the opportunity to loot the shop. Let’s hope everything goes smoothly!

Well, I’ll try again later. My chances of stealing successfully are still pretty low, but I managed to get a bigger backpack without getting caught.

Let’s cook some meat, then head to the next town. We’ll come back this way later—there’s still a lot to do in every major town in the region before I leave.

Off to “Stoat”! We’re crossing this dangerous desert again.

In the distance, I can see rebels killing anyone they spot in the desert. And they’ve got dogs, too! Dogs in this game are really strong, and they eat any corpses they find. That’s how the game gets rid of corpses.

Well, I’m getting attacked by a lone guy. At least it’ll help improve my sabre skill—my current weapon—as well as my toughness from taking hits and my strength.

I’m carrying the body on my back just to add some weight. The more you carry, the slower you move, but the more your strength stat increases.

Can you see the town in the distance, like I can? I swear it’s there—just zoom in on the image!

Three hungry people attacked me all at once. They managed to do a little damage, but I knocked them all out.

Luckily, I’ve got supplies to heal myself. It helps to loot every body you come across and steal a few things from shops, too.

I’ll skip the fights and detours to avoid the local monsters.

But welcome to “Stoat,” the slave traders’ main town! Let’s stock up, sell everything we picked up along the way, and loot the slave traders without mercy.

There we go—I’ve got 20K gold. But instead of playing fair, as I told you, I’m going to loot this entire slave-trading town. It’ll take a long time and be pretty tedious, with lots of waiting for the perfect moment so I don’t end up enslaved.

I’m only going to steal what I need for what’s ahead. Here’s some building material—I’ll need hundreds of these later, and they’re very expensive at the few shops that sell them.

Behind the counter and upstairs, where the owner and his guards sleep, there are locked chests. Good thing we did a bit of training at the Thieves Guild.

Nice! Some building plans—those are expensive too, and they’ll come in handy. I’ll learn every plan I can over the next few episodes. I haven’t built my own shop or base yet. Remember episode 1, when I told you I was going to buy the whole town at the very top of the map...?

Given how difficult this chest was to pick, I hope there’s something good inside.

Well, just a better shirt with more protection—but I’ll take it!

I’ll come back behind the counter tonight, when nobody’s around. I need to find somewhere to hide until the merchant leaves.
