That must have been weird to see the escorts and Air Force one as the only planes in the air. Not being active duty USAF might have been a good thing at that point. Deployments didn't take long to get started if I recall!

Deployments followed pretty quick but there were still plenty of them prior due the craziness in the middle east. I got out on 10 August so I missed the stop loss they had going on a few months following
