Saturday Savers Club: Week 4

(edited)

Well, this week brought me a very pleasant surprise! While I had chosen not to "publicly" list it as an objective, privately I have long thought a reputation score of +70 would be a nice accomplishment. It is not easily reached "in here."

While I was still quite a ways off, upon choosing to resume writing a bit on our Hive blockchain, I at least knew I might get "across the line" later in the year, if I stayed with it.

Well ...

How about
right
now

From PeakD's UI: Ending the day so close ... Waking up and we're there!

Yep! With the publishing Sunday night of my latest travel-related post, I was ohhh ... sooo ... close. I woke up in the morning and here we are. A shiny new +70 rep on our Hive blockchain!

Happily accepted!

    • "For the record" and "immutably enshrined" here in week #4 of my Saturday Savers Club posts!

Weekly Update

Not a lot to say about this week ...

... other than these results are based on payouts for two travel-related posts, instead of one. I will not typically be able to maintain that frequency of publishing.

I'll be happy to do what I can, when I can, and accept whatever our Hive blockchain community decides they are worth.

Weekly Focus

Last week, I touched a bit on investing your savings. As mentioned, there is a lot to learn about doing that successfully. Anywhere in TradFi ... I believe this to be doubly true, in crypto.

Why? It is considerably more volatile ...

Some "free advice" pointers:

  • "FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) Good!" πŸ‘ and "FUD (Fear Uncertainty & Doubt) Bad!" πŸ‘Ž

It would be difficult to overstate the importance of avoiding the ... "degen brain" (not my words, theirs) ... communities where this mindset prevails. Which ... Is everywhere ...

Yes, upon encountering them, you will inevitably be met with the "posers" who want to "flex" and tell you how well they did. Enticing you ... Ask yourself, how often do you hear from those ...

  • who served as ... "
    exit liquidity
    " ...
which ended up in the wallets
    of these "posers?"

  • Good business is mutually beneficial!

Derived from the experience base, of my long professional career. You will want to develop a strong "gut level" sense of how any investment you are considering can truly best be characterized. Following up on my first bullet point, many are very clearly designed as nothing more than a trap. Don't step in it!

  • TA (technical analysis) is the answer!

Yes, for some ... They focus on getting ever better at "looking into their crystal ball, horoscope, stars charts" to forecast the future. Based on the past ... Good idea? Very, very (very, very ...) few people can do this successfully over time ...

Do not underestimate the remarkable power of the emotional responses we all feel, in response to whatever is going on in the marketplace. Particularly, in crypto.

Trust me, they are not your friend!

The "Wild West" of crypto is still largely intact. "Not your keys, not your crypto" and "You are your own bank" are a couple of key gentle reminders about how best to protect yourself.

With all of this, then, what have I chosen to do with own my hard-earned fiat moved into crypto? My weekly tip is the answer.

Weekly Tip

So ... How do I go about doing my best to protect myself, while still hoping for a reasonable ROI on the investment of my hard-earned dollars? While trying to keep "Rule #1" sharply in focus?

DCA In!
DCP Out!

  • DCA - Dollar Cost Average. Cost => "It takes money to make money" ...

  • DCP - Dollar Profit Average. Profit or ROI => Return on Investment ...

  • Forget buying "the bottom" and selling "the top." Be content with the results of DCAing in and DCPing out ...

Saving consistently gives you a natural opportunity to apply this tip. For example, my own SSC savings objectives are being met by investing the payouts from my weekly posts. I am not HODLing my HIVE hoping I am smart enough to know when a "top" or "bottom" is in and then doing whatever.

Nope. After 7 days from publishing, I simply add another DCA increment to my savings.

Just "steady as she goes" wins the race ...

If that is news to you and you would like to learn more, I covered it recently in this post - "Saving BTC and ETH on Hive!"

It has been a very good week. BTC and ETH's recent setting of new highs (post the catastrophic "collapse" of "Scam Bankrupt Fraud's" FTX empire) inevitably leads to a "rising tides lift all boats" sense of prospering, as we diligently "keep on keeping on." 🫑

I’d love to hear any feedback you may be inspired to provide. Or, if I can help you with anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

Until "next time," all the best to you for a better tomorrow, as we all work together to build up our Hive Communities and add increasing value to our Hive blockchain! πŸ‘ 😊

Dear @roleerob !
I eagerly read your articles about cryptocurrency every day, but it was difficult for me to understand with my English reading ability at the level of an American elementary school student!

Many of the savings and investment options on our Hive blockchain are HIVE-based, i.e. dependent upon the price of HIVE. For your DCA candidates consideration, Hive Engine makes options like HODLing Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) viable.

However, I interpreted this sentence as the purpose you claim!

I hope you can understand my awkward English, which is at the level of an American elementary school student!

Thank you for article!

Hmmm. Not sure, @goldgrifin007, if I am following your train of thought here. Care to elaborate?

Dear steve!
It's hard for me to understand your argument because my English reading comprehension is at the level of an American elementary school student!πŸ˜‚
Still, I will tell you what I think!

I interpreted that you were claiming that you can buy and sell Bitcoin and Ethereum using the Hive blockchain!

This is a good approach for DCA investing. It gives you the incentive and impetuous to keep investing on a regular basis and not to miss the DCA rhythm

Ahhh, a fellow Hivian with a 70 rep ... 🫑

Yes, a disciplined DCA approach takes the emotion of it, which is a key part of being successful.

Thanks for stopping by and providing your perspective! 🀝

Yes, it is a nice round number! πŸ˜‰

Seriously, having been "in here" for quite some time, I know there are those that don't speak very highly about our Hive rep scores. Like most anything else in crypto, I suppose it is another ... "work-in-progress."

That said, I know what it took to get there, so I am happy with being able to celebrate this "milestone" on my journey through this "virtual world."

Thanks for stopping by! 🫑
