The Last Laugh

On Hive we like to talk about many people and how most are not creating as much quality content as some well-known authors. Some new hivers hear this and count themselves as someone who would never be able to grow to the level of some well-known and prolific writers and authors, here on hive.

I bet it was the same for the ogs too, wasn't it?

The beginning is always the hardest.

Just like when we are starting out with anything in life the effort needed to push through inertia is always the hardest. I see the same thing with the new hiver of today where most are here after hearing about how much money can be made by just jotting down some points and elaborating them in a well-composed post. Or posting pictures about their favorite Dog.

Sometimes the promise of money made to us when starting anything is usually the main catalyst for not pushing through in the end because we've set up for ourselves an expectation that may never be met when we are just starting out.

I talked about Hive with a friend recently and after I got him signed up, what he was thinking about is only the money that he thinks I am making per post(this was after seeing my wallet). In short, after making 2 to 3 posts without reaching a dollar or a cent, he gave up and never wrote anything ever since. Not even a comment.

Comparing and contrasting

The promise of money is not always the problem but rather our own comparing and contrasting skill which is passed down over the years and has taken root in the educational system of today. When a kid fails he’s always compared with the other kid who excelled. Instead of seeking a way to make the kid learn he’s being bashed for not meeting up to expectations that are met by other kids.

Expectations vs Reality are two different things

When you expect something to happen we are put much focus only on the results we want to get and not the simple and mundane steps involved. It’s why many people today who are focused only on expectation try to look for shortcuts so that they can be able to get what they want.

The long road is never an option in today's fast-paced world

And this is why most new Hivers give up even before they start just for the single fact that they want the rewards now and not in a year or five years from now which is the only time for their expectation to become a reality. I can remember when I just started with Hive there were times I made 200 comments in a day just to get a clear view of things and connect with other hivers. But someone else would think it’s an easy feat to attain.

I told my friend to try making ten comments in a day but he was t able to make up to 5 and sometimes he said he couldn’t understand what was being said by some others nor did he get their point.

Understanding doesn’t come all at once

Even with my time here, there are still some articles I read and don’t get their points clearly. Sometimes I read without commenting but most times I like to ask questions on what seems to be complex for me. Most times I get a reply that answers my questions and satisfies my curiosity. And also sometimes I still don’t get it.

But I never stopped for anything or anyone.

I hear about how some hivers here are being bullied due to one reason or the other. Tbh bullying is meant to happen in any organization either online or offline but the question many who give up never ask is how can they stand up tall in the face of great resistance.

Life alone is a bully and it bullies us all with many people trying to avoid the pain and hurt but for those who push through they always have the last laugh.

My question now to anyone reading is, what’s stopping you from having the last laugh?

catch you next time

I agree with you on the points highlighted in your post. Frankly speaking, it's not easy to start on platforms like Hive, where there are some complexities to overcome. I believe it's one of the reasons why some users may not find Hive very fascinating. Even if they do, they may eventually give up when they realize how much they will need to grasp before having a smooth sail. Onboarding on Hive has always been a difficult job to do on Hive. I'm glad you never gave up despite all the hurdles, also having to learn more to understand how things really work here. Those who give up too early never win anything in life, and I'm glad you stayed and have come this far. Let's keep going and keep Hive-ing!

You're right, Hive is very complex and it takes time before we can be able to stand on our feet here. The fact that it's not fascinating nor fun like other Web 2 platforms where its layouts are exquisite and engaging makes it even harder for many people to navigate.

I'm also glad I was able to come this far despite the resistance. Now I can see that all it takes is patience and perseverance to achieve what's deemed impossible by others. And I won't be able to do it without support from people like you.

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement ser 😊

Hive on….
