#gmfrens just got more popular in the Thread space, and in the coming days, the Threadworld will be buzzling with the #gmfrens tags from those who use it in the morning, to those who use it in the mid-morning-noon time, and those who claim to be in the morning when they are obviously in the night (according to their timezone)... well, @maryjacy, I am not talking about you.

Obviously, this recent surge in the #gmfrens tag is owing to the Thread Adoption Campaign where users are encouraged to use the #gmfrens daily to claim XP. This, however, is a great way to make users get in line to kick off conversations on Threads, as against turning Threads into a glorified post-promotion channel on Discord. Naaaa! Let’s Converse more!

A TOKEN?

A good number of people who used the #gmfrens tag for the first time came to me to express their shock on the message they received from gmfrens after some hours. In Nigeria, we will call this experience: “e shock you?”

"Yea, e shock dem!"

Yea, they were shocked, because with the message they realized that #gmfrens is not only a tag you can use in the night, sorry morning, to wish your friends "Good Morning," but you can also earn gmfrens token by doing that daily. This means that, the Zealy task of making #gmfrens thread daily is not a punishment like @ovey10 might think… Na! It is a way of earning also… so its double win! You claim XP on Zealy; you get some gmfrens token; you kick open a conversation on Threads; and you dash me some money.

WHAT IS GMFRENS TOKEN?

So let’s begin with the question: Who or what is this @gmfrens?

GM:FRENS is a cross-blockchain social NFT project on WAX and Hive blockchains, but specifically mined on Threads in Hive Blockchain. By using the #gmfrens tag daily, you mine the GM token.

The token was created by 0xNifty.nft (@l337m45732 – _{I’ve been looking forward to asking about the meaning of the name/code}), with the goal of encouraging the use of Threads daily for engagement, as well as providing a fun incentive to those who use the tags.

It isn’t in its perfect state now, however, it is in its developmental phase and you can earn as much gm tokens as possible by using the tags daily.

According to the creator of the token, the USE CASE of the token is DEBATABLE, however, the creator obviously has lots of ideas for the token and we have seen some playing out. For instance, some GM:Miner NFTs were on sale (I don’t know if it is still available), such that if you purchase and stake the Miner NFTs in the NFT Staking pool, you could mine gm tokens every hour.

So, while you are at it grinding your #gmfrens tag daily, and fulfilling your Thread Adoption tasks daily, also grab some gm tokens. I believe there will be other future plans. However, this is not a financial advice.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER?

At the present moment, according to gmfrens, registrations on the site are currently disabled. This means that the only way for you to register is to easily tag @gmfrens with your WAX wallet address on threads. Easy, right?

So, let’s go get registered on WAX.

REGISTER ON WAX

To grab some gmtokens, you need to be registered on or have a wax blockchain address. There are various methods to do that, and many of them require that you pay some fees (just as you need to 3 Hive to create a hive wallet). However, there is a method that does not require payment of any fee, and that method is what I will show you right away.

• Step one: Download Wombat mobile app on your Apple Store for IPhone or Play Store for Android phone, or use Web Browser.
• Step two: Open Wombat and click Register
• Step three: Select a Social network to register with, and click Log in.
• Step four: Create a password for your account; a password which you can easily remember
• Step five: Select WAX Blockchain as is our focus presently
• Step six: Select “Create Account” button
• Step seven: Choose your preferred username. Note that your username will be your WAX address just like your Hive username is your Hive address.
• Step Eight: Backup your wallet data with Google drive or Dropbox.

Viola!

Your wallet is ready!

Send @gmfrens your WAX wallet now so that the gm tokens you mined won’t be burned, but will be transferred to your wallet!

NB: I couldn’t create a testing account to make a tutorial due to the strict policy as my account may be suspended, hence, most of the the images from the .gif above were gotten from @l337m45732 post on How to Get a Free Custom WAX Wallet | What is Wombat Wallet?, and are specifically used for the promotion of the gm tokens of which he is the creator. The method is also for Web login, Mobile device isn't much different from this.
