Hive is trending right now on Twitter, but, sadly, it isn’t our beloved Hive Blockchain. Instead, it is HiveSocial; a platform created by two developers which has similar features with Twitter – what people call, Twitter Alternative.
Honestly, this #Hive trending info erupts different kinds of emotions for those who have worked so hard to Market Hive Blockchain to the world but haven’t been successful this way.
The most painful part is that HiveSocial is a Web2 service, heavily centralized. Yet, people consider it as a “worthy” alternative to Twitter – “Elon-Muskingly” Centralized.
Let’s give HiveSocial some accolades; it truly deserves it.
It isn’t easy to break into the Social Media world this way and get recognized by many with your first MAJOR trial. That was really an impressive and strategic move.
8 hours ago, I saw a tweet from the Twitter handle documentingHive which reads:
Hive Social, a Twitter alternative app is trending. But it has nothing to do with @hiveblocks. What’s your take on this? source
https://twitter.com/DocumentingHive/status/1594702596660682752?t=Bb20-C5jaobUbVXQtdk9XQ&s=19
This tweet prompted me to check my trending page to confirm if it is the same here.
Well, Nigeria has some "big events" today, so there was no room for #Hive. However, I changed my Location to California, USA (Lord is this a sign? your son is ready to travel out), and #Hive was at #11 spot on the trending list.
I looked closely at every top/significant Tweet about #Hive to figure out why HiveSocial was trending. My discovery led me to the following:
When Elon Musk became the “Oga” (head) of Twitter, he modified many guidelines on Twitter and this prompted many people to search for alternative platforms to Twitter. Mastodon, a 6-year-old decentralized and open-source platform, first stood as the perfect Twitter-Killer, but this 3-year-old centralized HIveSocial has obviously taken the spot.
Which do users prefer? Centralized or Decentralized platforms?
In as much as many users don’t like the fact that centralized platforms have the powers to suspend or terminate users account, the honest truth is that many do not care about this. When and if they fall victim of account suspension or termination, either they create new accounts or they move on with other apps.
What are online users bothered about?
Obviously, as it stands now, many online warriors users are only interested in the social side of the web. They do not know and do not understand how social media works with blockchain (Web 3).
The fact is that a good number of people still see this as an impossible feat which can only be accomplished by the next generation “onliners.” Hence, they are only interested in a platform that gives them whatever they want in a social media.
For these set of online users, the “Everything App” would mean an app that contains all the possible features that are necessary to enjoy social media to its fullest.
Hence, it won’t be a complicated or complex app, but a simple application that has a simple user interface. In as much as this app will be a simple one, it should contain “all there is to enjoy” about social media.
In other words, it will be a simple or basic app, operatable by all, but it should contain amazing features which should make the app a bit complicated, yet it should be easy to understand.
Honestly, this generation is so confused... lol
Don’t get this twisted
HiveSocial does not qualify as an everything app, however, it has some additional features that Twitter do not have.
Not much difference!
Yet, it is trending.
WHY?
Indeed, HiveSocial played a quick one here and it worked out to their favour:
Hive Blockchain is our Beloved Hive; the Hive in whom we are well pleased.
It is an ecosystem that houses multiple dApps and great communities around it. Every day, developers keep working to release amazing applications and update existing ones.
Yes, we are better than the best!
Twitter doesn’t have great features like Leothreads!
Quora will fall under the feet of Reverio!
Youtube will soon be humbled by 3speak!
Yet, Hive Blockchain hasn’t been on the spotlight like HiveSocial.
WHY?
Based on my discovery with HiveSocial, I would make the following assessments or recommendations:
Hive has so many dApps that could serve as solutions to various existing problems on so many fields in our world today. Also, our amazing developers still continue to build more apps that would solve other problems.
However, we need to be aware that most of our potential users are not really bothered about the debate between Web2 and Web3; or the fight between centralization and decentralization.
They just want a solution or a platform that gives them what they want!
Give them the everything app about that service: for instance, if it is micro-blogging, create the best out of the microblogging app such that they would not search for another app.
Make sure it is easy to understand, yet has all the necessary features.
Thus, including a payment feature will be more than what their “little heads” conceive as “everything app”; it will be mind-blowing for them.
Create a workable product that is mobile friendly (android and ios), with relatable UI and VERY EASY TO ONBOARD users.
Give this finished product a strategic marketing by considering the timing and your potential users: remember, your potential users WILL include those who do not know anything about Web 2 or Web 3; they just want a good solution to their problem.
Hence, pick your influencers based on that category and not just crypto-influencers.
I believe many dApps on Hive are working towards this. For instance, in the Leoverse, the King of the Jungle @khaleelkazi and the Leofinance team are redesigning the entire UI of Leofinance. Very "thoon" Project blank will emerge in this #Sooniverse.
When it does, I believe the team will create something wonderful and implement a strategic marketing plan.

I think Hive being decentralised fights for us and against us at times. Having someone take Hive as their personal business is very important but the fact that the blockchain was built for decentralisation will eventually show. Uniseap just beat coinbase for the number 2 spot as an exchange. I think we will continue to see these types of trends.
I really don't think this is important for Hive. This is what Hive fought against and that led to the Hard Fork from Steem. I really don't think it should go on the path of centralization.
The fact is that, the world isn't ready for decentralization, no matter how people object or are against centralized powers. They don't see the benefits of decentralization; they don't know the difference.
Hence, I think there's need to restrategize our marketing.
Rather than focusing on the Decentralized/centralized campaigns, or Blockchain nor blockchain.... this will not work so well....
We need to focus on practical dApps that addresses issues... and let these dApps be functional with amazing features...
This should be the base of our campaigns...
Freedom of speech, blockchain, decentralization, immutable accounts.... these are secondary... and these are stuffs people will benefit from.
But it shouldn't be the basis of our campaigns.
Infact, we may not even bother about campaigning for HIVE..... campaign for Leothreads, activit, 3speak....
When these communities campaign individually, and onboard people towards their direction...
It all means Hive Onboarding 👌
I mean, having someone who is the main driving force with others behind them though. It is possible that it might be a bad thing for Hive though.
I agree that our apps are the main link between us and large scale adoption so we agree on that front.
But decentralisation is gradually making its way into the heart of many though and this was the initial intent of the blockchain.
True, I think people should come and find these things.
Well said bro, I am happy about people like you who have the good of Hive at heart.
Aouch, also found this today in my mailbox - confusing, the next Hive on there and again more popular.
O yes!
But I also found out that the App existed before Hive Blockchain.
However, we've got more features and amazing set up than they've got.

Why is this part very funny 🤣
And TikTok algorithm will fall under the feet of veews.io 💪
Ksam, don't worry, with the way everything is going, soon, people will be using Hive for their businesses and other social activities without knowing they are doing it.
We will penetrate slowly but with a force that will throw everyone off balance.
Just wait. And keep building.
There seems lots of these Twitter clones popping up these days.
