A lot of people like to think that the definition of contentment is being happy with what they have. But then, if they're asked what they would like to have, you'll see them mention mansions, pieces of jewelry, a trip to Italy, ice cream in Florida an iPhone 13 pro max, and even 50 million dollars in their pocket.
The truth is, the human mind is not built to be contented and one of the reasons why this is so is because we're adjustable, when we're forced to live minimally, we're forced to live and thrive in that situation but the ability to thrive, find comfort or happiness when we do not have everything we might desire in life is not contentment.
It's like making lemonade out of lemon, but trying to create a sense of contentment is seeing no need to go beyond the pace we are currently going, seeing no need to seek more profit, and being unbothered about competition
However, we're all bothered about competition and this is why we try to improve, nevertheless, trying to improve, means improvising, creating value to what we originally embody in the hope that we can have more than we originally do.
A man with a 2005 Hyundai is seeking to buy a 2015 Mercedes Benz. This isn't greed, nor is it contentment, it is just succumbing to change and trend.
We have those who can do this effortlessly and we have those who cannot, however, it's difficult to be generally contented even if we malign our lives to do so, we can try to break the cycle. However, Our reality is inflated, which means, that more there are people are aiming to be richer than they are.
While some are doing this to beat the pangs of inflation, some others are doing it to break records and hit unnecessary milestones.
Nevertheless, reality is harsh
no one likes to talk about the true intentions of making money, even the wealthiest people in the world would say they're working hard to take care of their family, but the thing is that with the number of "zeroes" they add their net worth, their intentions of making money gradually transcends, become more complicated and emotionally maladjusted.
However, I think it's okay to say "I'm making money to top charts, being truthful with intentions is what most people are finding difficult, but then, appearing good to others is what some mostly use to mask their intentions, at the end of the day you have people who are just trying to do something different, howbeit with a different intention entirely.
In life we cannot get it right, everyone is blessed and cursed with the freedom of dominion, it's like being centralized and decentralized, they both come with their perks even if some people would think one is overly advantageous than the other. At the end of the day, people hold on to the concept of contentment to keep them tethered, not totally drifting away into greed.
The echelon of life is constantly changing, this is why some people change their friends, their attitude or even their behavioral tendencies immediately after their finances changes for the better.
A lot of them try to justify this attitude, but we all know that people change and sometimes they find it difficult to place a reason as to why they change.
At the end of the day, contentment is just a word that is coined to curb our excesses because no one can truly be, life is not stable, one minute you're alive, the next, you're dead, and these uncertainties adjust people, their plans, their morals, and their personalities.

There are a lot of people who are satisfied with their lives or what they can do with their lives. So most of them don't really pursue change and I agree that it's just part of the cycle. If people are not content, then they are the most likely to do change and I think more people need to do that.

Our nature hardly allows us to be content, because we're a consistent and moving race. Being content takes away that will and eagerness to improve, however it gets to a stage where it be becomes greed, this is where the line should be drawn for me..

People can be content in my opinion. Contentment was never meant to quench one's desire. Contentment is basically the ability to accept and seek happiness in what you have while aspiring for better things
Well, you're right. Nevertheless, because of our nature like I said, it's even hard to stay happy with what you have especially when it's losing value and diminishing in worth. I guess this is the aspect I was keying into. Thanks for coming through.
