5 Strategies For Building A Following On Web3
If you are into content creation...You are an entrepreneur!
That might come to a shock to some of you that read this because you think that you are the furthest thing from it. However everything you are doing in social media (specifically this blockchain) contributes to your personal brand.
And one of the most important aspects of building engaging content is...Building that personal brand that people enjoy to interact with.
How do you get more people to know about your content?
How do you create relationships that last for years online?
How do you stick out from the crowd of hundreds if not thousands of other creators?
How do you become a thought leader for content creators on web3?
I've developed a few tips over the years that have helped me, and I would love to share them with you today. As always, I hope this post is of huge value to you :)
1. Be Top Of Mind
If you are serious about building a brand, right here on the blockchain, you need to be in front of people. And that doesn't mean showing up one day a week or a few times a month and saying hi. You should be everywhere you can, as often as you can, for as long as you can.
Think about this, the numbers are stacked against you! The average consumer of content is bombarded with notifications on their phones, updates on their favorite social media networks, countless emails, and that's not to mention what they might get exposed to in the 'real world'. If you think for a second you will grow your readers and followers by sneaking in on a Tuesday at 3:30 pm every other week...
Use the platforms here on the blockchain, engage with others through comments, find a community and add value...Just never stop showing up on people's notifications and feeds.
2. Be A Product, Of Your Product
Speaking of using the applications here on chain, let's break this point down so that you truly lead by example.
Stop using YouTube.....Use @threespeak
Enough of the Twitch....Fire up @Vimm
Medium is cool because 'crypto influencers' blog there....They suck, use @peakd or @leofinance
The main point here is that if you want to be seen as a thought leader in yoru niche or community, practice what you preach and use these tools every single day!
3. Create Memorable Experiences For Your Readers / Followers
Here's a hint, people's time is very valuable. And if they spend a few minutes reading your content or watching it and then even a few more to leave you a comment...The least you can do is respond to them!
This is a simple and straightforward step to creating lifetime relationships with your followers. Show them they are valued, with a simple response! Heck, we can even tip or upvote comments as well on this blockchain so....DO THAT!
There is nothing that will hurt your brand building journey quicker than not valuing your followers and readers. Highlight them, feature them in articles, tip them, upvote their content...Do everything you can to make them know, you appreciate them!
4. Consistency Equals Trust
One of the most important aspects of creating strong brands online (as we mentioned above) is to be top of mind. As you show up on people's feeds and notifications, it's important to make that a habit. Here's the nugget, being loud on this blockchain or social media for 2 weeks and then disappearing does nothing for you!
Show up. Every day!
And then what happens is that people start to think of you as a voice...That leads to your authority on a certain topic...Which creates a strong and solid personal brand!
5. Never Forget Who & What Made You!
Being humble, grateful and thankful is a REALLY good business strategy!
Do you want to know why?
Because it's the right way to live your life!
That translates into business and content marketing as well. I will always remember where I came from, the industry I was 'born into' and never forget my roots. It grounds you and helps you to always be petter than you were the day before.
Have you noticed community members that have shown up in your comment section for months if not years now? Let them know how important they are to your journey and make them feel appreciated every chance you get.
Never forget, those that helped you along the way and remember what it was like when you first got started...It was scary right? But some people upvoted you. Others commented. Maybe even a whale or two got you on their radar. Never forget!

You never waver(ed), you have always lead by example, you walk the walk and you back up your talk.
Some very good advice for real! I love the Be Top Of Mind bit, it reminds me of the old adage The squeaky wheel gets the grease or in a content creator's case, those who ping one's notifications achieve growth not stagnation.
One of my favorite things every about blogging on Hive is the ability to give something to those who give their most precious resource to me (their time). I love upvoting and tipping comments, it's just awesome!
And the humble, gratitude part of your post made me smile, I never, ever want to be an over-puffed, hubris-filled grotesquery, because everyone has something valuable to offer, it's just that some of us are more noisy, consistent, and persistent than others lol!

Awesome tips! It still amazes me that there are people that join Hive/Listnerds and think just dropping their content is making them entitled to receive votes. I think it's logical that you have to make sure they see you, make connections, why would they show up if you don't?

It's so true. Heck I've been at this every day basically for 5 years and I'm still SO grateful for every vote I get. The trick is to think of that, as a side benefit...And go after the relationships though comments etc...That's the power!
Absolutely true! Even though I've always appreciated the support deeply, I also remember that for a long time I had no other choice than to cash our part of my earnings, and I remember that it felt very freeing when that wasn't needed anymore because at that moment, the rewards were even less important. To me, it's always been clear that the connections made are the true power, I always knew that this is something so valuable in many other ways than the monetary rewards. But when you are only focused on building and in no need to take out earnings anymore, it's a great feeling to not care about votes anymore. Of course, it's great when they appear, but it's not something I even check during the week.

You can not just drop whatever and leave and then expect people to just vote without really building some form of connection with them. With relationship comes commitment and support, you would agree. 🤌🤌

Those are some great tips and I agree that the least people can do is to respond to the comments left on their posts. While I do think places like VIMM, 3speak, and others are nice, I think it just doesn't have as good of a user interface as youtube and I tend to have fewer issues over there. Maybe when it becomes better, I can consider it as the best place to be.

I like that "eat your own dogfood" approach and can confirm the showing up daily part as well. I have a window now before things get busy again and plan on commenting more while I have the chance.

Showing up everyday is really the goal. It's not easy, but I think it is one way to grow and to be recognized.
Also, Engagement. I believe alot of people pour out their hearts on their posts and many people don't notice.... Relationships on Hive feels different, Networking is a big deal, on hive, it's free. You meet people with different skills set. You meet people with same dreams and goals, very easy to move forward.

Yeah, you are right. It doesn't need any cash but you need to be consistent with what you do. Consistency is the key
This top-notch.. consistency is very important in online growth. Because people are always looking up to what you have to offer. And the excellency you put in your content is also very important. We don't just do things because we feel like, being excellent 👌 is the key.
Showing up just once in a while can inhibit online growth.
One just has to push through.

Anyone can become a Bitcoin miner, as long as they have enough money and are able to get the ASICS miners. Nobody needs to know you, you just fire up those miners and you start earning.
But Hive is a social blockchain, a community, that uses delegated proof of stake to verify the blocks. By definition this means that you don’t get anywhere unless people know, like and trust you.
This is not just the layer 0 community, but also the layer 1 code of the blockchain.
The only way to silently earn from your investment is to curate or put some hive/hbd in savings. But if that’s what you do, then you’d probably better invest in some other defi project that doesn’t use dpos.
Yeah the passive comes after the active...Unless you have unlimited funds, the rest of us need to show up and grind. Which then leads to what you mentioned with curation and HBD!
Is the beauty of compounding interest. Whatever you put in grows, the more you put in, the bigger the effect.
On hive you can choose to put in time, to compensate for a lack of investment money.
It works best to keep showing up every day
Consistency - just showing up every day is half the battle won. Good times and we're still really early in the game.

I wish I got these tips when i joined here. One important thing I feel is the - trust. It kind of develops as one writes and interacts with others. This is another valuable asset apart from the hive and HP that we earn here. I feel people can make you or break you. Something web3 and internet in general can do for you.
The hardest thing to earn and the quickest thing to lose...Trust!!
As I learn, I share what I have learned so that we may all grow together. Which is why you will hear me say, "Learn, Share, Grow" because it is the way I live my life and build my business.
I first heard "Learn, Share, Grow" when I was the chapter leader of the local Social Media Club. It's stuck with me ever since.
I forget where I learned this...But we retain something like 10-20% of what we read and watch....However we retain like 70% or higher from what we share and teach!
Fantastic advice to grow on Hive Jon, and I think consistency is worth about as much as all the other points combined, without it the others are moot, it's only once you have consistency that the other points start to matter, keep up your great work and stay awesome.

Thanks for the reminder. I have been working on these items over the last year but the balancing of them I do not have a good handle.
