Today I managed to find a bit of free time. So I decided to drop by Hive. The first thing I did was open PeakD to see what kind of posts had been published. Although I really enjoy interacting with others, limitations like RC make me more cautious. For now, I’ve decided to focus on reading rather than posting.
Building a community of friends from scratch isn’t easy. You might hear that and think, “Oh, what a lonely person.” But I mean something else entirely.
When we enter a new place—a city, a country, a school, or even a new classroom—what’s our first reaction? Fear? Confusion? Maybe. But soon, we begin to observe people, their behaviors, their ethics. We look for those whose personalities resonate with ours. In essence, we’re choosing our community.
And what do those choices mean? If I choose to befriend the troublemakers in class, or instead connect with the diligent and focused ones, my path will be different. Hive is no different. Many people gravitate toward those with high Hive Power. Maybe that’s understandable—after all, isn’t that how it works in real life too?
Have you noticed? People constantly ask, “That person is successful—how did they do it? What path did they take?” Maybe we’ve asked those questions ourselves. What about you? Have you ever sought out successful people to uncover their secrets?
Sometimes it feels like we don’t want to be our true selves. We prefer to chase success—even if it means wearing a mask. Maybe that’s normal. Maybe it’s not. But the one thing that changes everything is our goal.
You might not agree with me. You might even target me for saying this. But what happens on Hive isn’t so different from what happens in the real world.
We say we’ve entered the world of blockchain. We say, “Come join us—everyone can participate.” Beautiful words. But what’s the reality?
Blockchain is built from code. Smart contracts are written. Hive Power is defined. It’s all mechanical. But there’s one thing inside this machine: us. The users.
We are the ones who’ve built a human community within this mechanical system. Yes, those with more Hive Power have more influence—more ability to reward or penalize. But those decisions are human. Ethics, culture, free will… these are what judge.
So yes, we are judged. By whom? By ourselves. By other users. By the community we’ve created.
You might see blockchain as just a piece of code. But when that code is placed in human hands, it gains a soul. Hive is a machine woven with human threads—forming a real society, just like the one outside.
