In the Spotlight
We have been waiting for VSC for a bit, haven't we? We have been waiting for custom smart contracts on Hive for longer, even.
We don't have to wait for too long, because VSC will soft-launch its mainnet next week, on Monday, March 31st.
From the announcement we learn that it will be a release in stages. Right out of the gate, it seems logging in with EVM wallets or social media accounts will be possible on VSC. Other wallets will be added later.
When the mainnet will be live and stable, Altera - VSC's defi app - will be deployed. With it, a liquidity pool between HIVE and HBD will go live as well. Longer term, HBD pools with USDC or DAI are considered.
The wrapped BTC bridge should come live a few months later.
The plan seems to be to be able to build this wrapped BTC bridge as an alternative to the Lightning Network, and also for someone to be able to manage their funds on different blockchains via their VSC interface.
I wanted to have a week without Splinterlands in the spotlight, but simply I couldn't move everything going on around Splinterlands in the Games section. It's simply too hot, probably the hottest thing on Hive atm.
First of all, the @coldbeetrootsoup guys started a series to have Hive Dapps listed and voted on TheDappList. This is an initiative that goes every week with a different Hive dapp. First week started with Splinterlands. Show some support by voting on Splinterlands and you will likely get rewarded handsomely if you follow the steps in the post.
The CBRS guys again, had Blaze - the lead marketing guy from Splinterlands - invited to their podcast, and @blazekos did drop a few alpha that are worth knowing about with some time in advance. Official announcement at least for Conclave Arcana will come next week, apparently. If you are deep into Splinterlands, I suggest you pay attention to Blaze's words... I won't spoil your fun, lol.
More in the Games section...
Marketing / Awareness / Branding
A massive update has been pushed to Distriator in the beta environment.
As I understood things, the reward structure will suffer some major changes, and they will be on a tiered system, where the base layer/tier is 10% (when the update was published). I believe currently (or before the tiered system went live, if it did), the lowest cashback percentage is 15%, but I'm not sure. @sagarkothari88 mentioned more details will come out about the new tiered system.
What else is new and very important with this update? Well, looks like from now on people would be able to upload receipts and additional photos for extra rewards. Basically, for a higher tiered reward, from my understanding. Each such request would have to be approved from the backend, so someone probably looks at those receipts. I'm not sure if that means online purchases too, or still only purchases from physical places.
I suggest that if you are using Distriator or are interested in the topic to watch the video that comes with the update and be on the lookout for more news on the subject.
I don't follow everything going on with Invennium, the side of the business ran by Aggy, but I know MoonKarts has true fans. I collect my fuel weekly, but haven't raced in quite a while. Maybe I'll find some time some day, because I really like that kind of games.
From his interview, I discovered there was a game on Arcade Colony I knew nothing about. Aggroed referred to it as SustainExchange, but you will find it on the platform as Enable All, and it seems to be a social and environmental responsibility game. He also reminded us about other games that are coming or planned.
He also talked about Hive, communities, and building them.
Governance / Development / Dapps / Education
Hive witnesses should really have a look at this technical post. Maybe devs too? Anyone else, ignore.
@acidyo talks about the basics of voting on Hive, and a little further, plus diving deeper into @commentrewarder.
An application that keeps building on Hive. They issued a dev update which seems to be focused on better user experience and security (the exchange support on wallet).
@ecoinstant and @thecrazygm opened sourced their Market Viewr tool. Three elements to remark about the new tool:
I think more work needs to be done at this tool. First that comes mind is that the main token list page needs to be broken into multiple pages, to load quicker and reduce the hit on the APIs/servers. Then, on my laptop, I don't see all columns for the asks (starting from usernames onward).
Are you a HBD saver? Check out to see if you have a badge based on your HBD holdings. I suggest to look on PeakD, I know they have them integrated, for sure.
@ravenmus1c is looking to contribute to a Hive project, based on her set of skills and experience.
Games
Crownrend has a social media contest going which just started. Check the rules, if you are interested.
The game also had an update to introduce alliance wars, bonuses, and such.
The cost of lessons has doubled, as well as the cost of packs after 100 packs have been purchased by a player, we learn from Rising Star's discord.
WOO added login rewards. Consistency pays, again, for regular players, as it often does.
I'd like to throw in here this week a couple of links for Splinterlands-related content, if it's ok with you.
A new episode of The People's Guild if you're a fan, and even if you're not, and only a Splinterlands fan. VetteV was the guest.
I heard Neal McSpadden started doing The Monster Maverick Show again. Haven't watched it yet. It's not from this week, but thought I'll throw it in here for people who may not follow this and would like to see Mr. "McSpreadsheets" in action, like I do.
Two posts from @azircon with very interesting data regarding land and how much is active and in what way:
If you are a significant land holder, they include very useful information.
Week in the Crypto World
After the announcement of its partnership with Trump Media, which I covered one of the other days (actually, now that I read the title better, Trump Media says "intention of partnership" in their announcement), another good news came for Crypto.com, in the form of the SEC closing its investigation on them.
Launched initially on Ethereum, and expanded only a few months ago to other EVMs, BUIDL has now reached Solana next. Makes sense since Solana is seen with good eyes by institutional investors.

Thank you so much for mentioning my post! =)
You're very welcome! 😃
Plenty going on as usual. Rising Star has had a few changes recently that mean I have to adapt my strategy a bit. I can get more unique cards, but need to save up more for lessons, so cannot buy as many packs. People are trading in lots of cards for the other new options. It's the only Hive game I play these days.
!BEER
I play it too, but more passively. I don't have as many cards to burn for other unique versions, plus I constantly need more fans for the SM mission.
I have a lot less cards than many of the top ranking people, but I have burnt some to get the Pawn Shop cards.

the reason for the columns is baconface. We have a "baconface filter" (you can filter any accounts out you want), but its slightly hidden.
Click here, on "order book filters":
In the current environment, its almost always gonna be a "baconface filter":
By the way - we have a way to prioritize feature requests. We take in mind all requests, and sometimes do them. But you cannot do everything at once.
But anyone can add their request to "my radar" by sending 100 ARCHON tokens, and this will prioritize the request into our workflow (but not guarantee, one guy asked for me to build him a whole interactive website for his nft game lol). I did meet with his team and give him 2-3 hours of my valuable PM time and energy tho. I want to help everyone!
The my radar stuff is always on the latest "is this worth money?" post.
Here is the current one, the 8th: https://peakd.com/hive-186392/@ecoinstant/is-this-worth-money-8-hive-memories
Ok, I figured out why you needed that "baconface" filter, lol.
I know of your "is it worth money?" series. My suggestion was to help you, not the other way around. Even if it's work on your part. Because I assume all the data for all tokens are at least loaded (if not also queried) every time that page loads, instead of doing it for 10-20 tokens.
Anyway, thanks for your work! Maybe your proposal eventually pulls through.
Your suggestion, whether you know it or not, is that we fix the hive-engine python library.
We are doing it!.
Best way for users (what I do) - never use that page! It loads all 1027 hive-engine tokens ever made. Our URLs for /market and /view are robust enough, just edit them.
And yes, i love feedback, always - sorry for the shill.

I remember when theycallmedan was doing the stuffs the cooldbeetroot was doing. It's great to see they've taken up the mantle and gotten us a few initiatives we can participate in.
Yes, he had his series of "call to action". They are important! Focuses the energy of the community on specific tasks and can improve results for them. Plus, the community can feel good if we do well.
VSC's mainnet soft launch is good news after doing a little research on that thing. The potential for custom smart contracts on Hive has been long awaited I guess. Wrapped BTC bridge will be cool
I am curious what exactly will work on Monday, from a user's perspective, since their defi app won't be launched at the same time.
yes 🤔🤔 you're right on that
i never understood anything about vsc, what is it about? what will change for us users?
Seems not many understand, even now. I guess we will see? 😀
As always you have selectioned useful and interesting Hive news! Great post!
!discovery 30
Thank you! Means a lot!
It looks like alot happened. It's interesting to hear about games in the ecosystem that we didn't know about before. Then again, I don't think I have seen anyone talk about that game.
I haven't heard anyone talking about that game either, but maybe no one looked. And I watch their discord, I don't remember seeing an announcement about it. Maybe they selected a package that was "without promotion".
Splinterlands is definitely getting ready for marketing mode and the hype train is on the move, thanks again for highlighting lots of things I have missed!
!BBH
I'm sure I missed quite a bit too. Plus the ones I didn't include because this would have become too long.

I am excited to check out VSC on its soft launch
It is interesting to know that there are badge based on the HBD holding
The login rewards in WOO is very helpful
