For the first point, if you stake some CTP on Listnerds, the number of votes increases.
About the timer, it has been tried in online marketing for years. The attention level doesn't grow. It'll rather move from the page to the counter.
But again, that rate is pretty good! Think about it, there are many points where you could lose someone's interest:
- on the subject line, doesn't even open the email
- opens the email but doesn't read it or not interested
- clicks the link but doesn't wait for the page to open
- doesn't read the page that opens
- doesn't act on the call to action, if there is one
- doesn't vote on the email once all the other steps are completed

I understand all these nuances ... After all, I have been connected with mailing lists since the time when the getpaidforum was mega popular.
