How to pick a niche to blog about on Hive so you can make money blogging.
Now that you’ve introduced yourself and started to put your name out there in the comments section of other popular blogs, it’s time for you to start producing consistent content of your own.
You’re here to make money blogging on Hive after all.
And to do that, you’re going to have to… well you know, start doing some actual blogging!
So let’s get into the meat of picking a niche so you can continue on your path to profitable blogging on Hive.
How to choose a niche for your Hive blog
You don’t have to sugar coat it.
You’re here because you want to make money as a blogger and using the social dApps built on Hive is the best way to achieve that goal.
While I can’t make the decision for you, I can encourage you to make the right call yourself by recommending the following 2 steps.
Step 1. Become a specialist
When starting out, many bloggers make the mistake of putting their finger in too many pies.
What I mean here is that they spread their investment dollars too thin and when one of their high conviction picks actually hits, they miss out on achieving life changing money.
When it comes to blogging on Hive, the concept of not spreading yourself too thin is exactly the same.
You’re trying to build a personal brand and an audience that knows what they’re consistently going to get by coming to your blog.
There’s no two ways about it, if you want to be successful as a blogger here on Hive, you’re going to want to specialise.
Have experience managing your personal finances?
Then specialise in blogging about personal finance.
A crypto trader?
Then focus on sharing charts and talking trading strategies.
Maybe you’re actually a foodie?
Then blog exclusively on food (or the business side of food!).
Just I implore you to pick a niche for your blog and stick to it.
This is personal branding 101 and the key to your content getting noticed and receiving ongoing support in the form of upvotes for the value that you’re adding.
Step 2. Choose your Hive community front-end of choice
Now that you’ve decided to specialise, one of the cool things about Hive is that each community already has a ready made audience of readers and stakeholders who want to read, engage with and upvote your content.

Just dangle that line into the right spot and I guarantee that you’ll be shocked by what immediately bites.

No doubt about LeoFinance is the biggest and the best platform on Hive when it comes to crypto and finance. But for a newbie who knows almost next to nothing about these topics and the fact that there are many specialists here, I am not that confident that a newcomer's content will be noticed. Not unless of course if he is an exceptional writer, there might be a chance. Finding his niche and the appropriate community, I think will work, but still it requires time to familiarize himself with the topic he wants to write about.

Of course, a newbie can write things only within his capabilities, but to be realistic, not all newbies experience similar responses from the community. What might be true for one person, might not be applicable to others.
The fact that you are here means you are not talking about crypto but living it. Each time you post or comment you have the potential for rewards. When you get them, you have a choice as to what you do with them.
That is crypto, you are living it.

The particular newbie I have in mind is someone who knows little about crypto, is willing to learn, and he can write about little things he knows. Perhaps, there are newbies like him that can be noticed, but as I said, not all newbies will experience a similar response from the community. A better way perhaps is what you said finding his niche and the appropriate community. And as he grows in his understanding of crypto, at that time I think he is more ready for LeoFinance.
This may take a while for a newbie, but try this approach: For what looks like a promising niche, comment in as many posts as possible and see how it turns out:
If the niche seems to broad (such as "crypto"), try narrowing it to something more specific (such as "crypto used locally in my area"). The idea is for each of us to be considered "experts" in whatever it is we do. After all, someone had to become an expert at wrangling snakes before being called upon to assist in the filming of Snakes on a Plane. Same with blogging here.

For LOTUS, is it just the abandonment of the front-end but posts can still be made in that community? Or have the doors shuttered for good there? If anything, there must be excellent content that can be mined for a revival there.
Last month I encountered crypto-oriented haiku, and it seems like something I can do regularly either for Hive Social, crypto and finance in general, to promote LMT, or to promote other Hivers/Leos as a service to them. I was wondering if that sort of thing adds value here or if I need to post it elsewhere. If anything, it helps keep me posting daily whether I have a long-form post or not.

My niche is mainly about crypto, with a mix of psychology, truth and investing to wrap up the package.
After 4 months I'm still working on my personal brand, but its something I'm going to look at in the coming weeks/months.

Any kind of truther topic that may fit with Crypto would be interesting for me to write about.
Mine is talking about movies. But it's so hard talking about that alone. I like being in a lot of communities.

This is why I created a specific account (this) for LeoFinance, which is my main interest on Hive and I'm building a brand around it. Now I use my old account to talk about movies, music and other topics of personal interest.
I can't say if that's the best move for everyone but it's working well for me.

That's a great idea. I don't think I can handle more than one personal account but I'm comfortable with my account now and I think it works for me.
I have been tossing a niche around in my mind. It is not something I am good at, but something I intend to get very good at and I know others are desperate to get good at also.
I also plan to start another account for this and have a separate persona (it's a bit personal). Build a whole new and clean brand :-)

Is that a niche? Perhaps you need to focus it more so that you can become the Hive expert in a particular genre such as horror.
As for the totality of Hive, yes you are right. The goal, if you are going to excel at movies is CineTV gets a lot bigger.

My niche is about lifestyle, talking about lifestyle includes so many aspect travel, food, family and more that I do not think one community is enough to focus on....
That's why I try to be everywhere that relate with the niche..doesnt seems like I am doing great with that.
"Lifestyle" is just so broad.
If you're not seeing the success you want, you should try focusing one a single aspect of lifestyle (such as food, family, travel like you listed) and consistently producing content on that topic.
That way your followers know exactly what they're going to get and have a predictable reason to follow and keep coming back.

Actually, what I try to do is to make acquaintances, create relationship way past the business on the chain, them create finance-minded individual in the aspect of crypto so I can learn. While my main niche, someone I dabble into photography and vlogging to find external traction and followership.

LeoFinance is definitely my niche as well but now I'm trying to figure out what niche within that niche I'd like to write about. There are definitely a lot of things to choose from. One thing that is particularly interesting to me is crypto adoption and its "real-life" use cases.

I think I spread myself too thin, BUT I enjoy many things and I like to write about them as well, I do not really think that that is in any form negative. Some posts work fine some do not work that well but in general I enjoy writing. I tried to diversify my blog onto 2 accounts one @splinternews does the gaming content, this account does try to stick to all things crypto and some Listnerds.
It might be that I am dipping into too many pots at the same time, but I have a real job as well and do not have to make a living from my blog yet.
But almost any topic can be written about with highlighting the financial aspect of it, so LEOfinance is a great platform for that.

I blog about scrapping for money and to help keep things out of the landfills. I tried LeoFinance but it wouldn't let me put beneficiaries in and kept giving me errors. I mentioned that in the post but I received no reaction from the community so I will probably just stick with ecency and keep posting to ecoTrain or Comedy Open Mic.

I haven't decided yet on my niche yet. It is very difficult to choose. I have a lot of interest and experience that sometimes I am thinking of maybe creating separate accounts per interest/expertise?
My experience and interest includes:
STEM: My previous studies specializes in electronics engineering. I also had previous jobs in teaching math and physics. I've also been a freelance computer programmer for the past few years.
SPORTS: I am into sports (Martial Arts/MMA) since I was a kid. Back when I was still studying it came to the point where I had to chose to either become a national athlete or finish my course. I decided on the later.
ART: This is one of my old interest that I was not able to pursue. If you're gonna check my profile, you will see my previous 3D arts. I am still new so it's not that great. But I love it. :)
LEOFINANCE and CTP: After knowing that I am a financial illiterate, I discovered a lot of things I need to learn. So I am now interested in entrepreneurship, finance, etc. And I think one of the best way to learn is to blog about it.
Aside from those four, I am also in to video gaming. :)
I would love to hear your thoughts.
Hope the community can help me on what to do.
Btw, thank you for reminding me that I have to chose a specialization. It made me realize the need to choose one. This is the first longest comment I've ever made on Hive. ^_^

My recommendation would be to pick one specific niche and focus on producing consistent content.
That way, you can build an audience that knows exactly what they're going to get from you.
Using separate accounts can help you maximise your curation rewards, but I wouldn't use them to write.

We all start at zero for most of our stats (including people who follow us, and informally the friends we make). Engagement usually solves that for us, and that requires consistency.
No matter how well we're doing here as bloggers, we can always do better. Part of that is finding a suitable niche. Then again, many of us are still trying to figure out what we want to be when we grow up; finding a niche here may be an easier task.
