Direct from the desk of Dane Williams.
With the Mrs back in the office for 3 days a week again, it was just Gaz (peruse the #dogs tag on threads if you havenât yet been introduced) and I working from home.
Off we went on our morning coffee run as normal and when I came back I thought I could quickly squeeze in a shower.
Bathroom door open, head lathered up, no fucks given.
Next thing I know, all hell had broken loose!
First I knock this stupidly balanced hanging shelf over, spilling soaps and bottles all over the floor.
Suddenly, the intercom buzzer to the apartment starts ringing.
Gaz thinks whoever it is, that theyâre definitely here to see him.
Because I mean with a face like his, why would they be here for any other reason?
(Again, do yourself a favour and peruse the #dogs tag on Threads - I canât stress this enough)
So off he goes, running back and forward from the bathroom to the door.
Meanwhile, my eyes are clenched shut burning from the shampoo running down into them as I bumble around like an idiot trying to pick up all these blurry, slippery objects.
Oh lordy.
I make it out safely and answer the (thankfully for the bloke outside) one way intercom video chat.
âDelivery, can you come down?â
âYep sure, easy mate, Iâll be down in a sec,â I say in my least flustered voice.
After quickly chucking on some clothes and disappointing poor Gaz who didnât get to say hello to another friendly stranger, I made it back upstairs with the package.
What an absolute terribly timed avalanche of events that all hit me at once.
So.
Why am I telling you this on the blog today?
Well, it really struck me how one experience that in the grand scheme of things means nothing, can seem HUUUUUGGGGEEEEEE in that moment.
Iâve always been quite good at not stressing about the little things, but sometimes like today, I just canât help it.
And I know you and so many other bloggers trying to make it here on Hive are exactly the same.
For example, are you worried that you havenât âmade itâ on Hive yet?
Well, if youâre not quite there yet as a Hive blogger, thereâs no need to freak out.
Yep, Iâm telling you to relax because itâs all good :)
Let me say it a little louder for those up back in the cheap seats.
If you want to make money blogging on Hive, then all you need to do is consistently add value day after day.
We see it over and over again from both new writers and heck, even writers who have an audience on other Web2 platforms.
They come in all guns blazing, pounding out a shitload of content and sending it into the Hive abyss.
Then when nobody sees it and it doesnât receive the expected upvotes from those with stake, they publicly crack the shits and leave.
Lol.
Donât be that guy.
Be the one that shows up every day and adds value by contributing to the discussion on other blogs AS WELL AS publishing their own.
All it takes to make it here on Hive is time and a little common sense.
Just donât stress if you havenât made it yet.
If you put in the effort, youâre going to look back on this phase of your Hive journey as totally insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Youâll see.
Just like todayâs shower incident will be for me...
Best of probabilities to you.

Nice one mate and good to see this, but seems I don't really get some point well enough.
The #dogs is for what
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
He's just trying to get you to see pictures of dogs on the threads part of the leofinance platform.
I mean, there are some cute dogs there.

Sue me đ.

Haha damn.
Well, Gaz going crazy just contributed to how flustered I was in that moment because I thought it was such a big deal.
But in the grand scheme of things, it didnât matter.
âŠjust like how feeling flustered as a new blogger on Hive wonât matter after you put in the work and find success.
Gaz just helped me say that itâs all about looking at the big picture!

Good Boy Gaz!! :')
Or maybe I just wanted to post a picture of my dog đ.

I think people are easily demotivated especially when it comes to putting in constant work and it's taking time to pay dividends, but sometimes the mistake is that they tend to overestimate the work their putting in, plus, some doesn't understand the core perspectives of consistency, the bigger picture.

consistenwho?

Let me also say that feeling demotivated after not seeing the results you expect is a natural reaction.
Iâve never liked the way that Hive (Iâm guilty of this sometimes too) encourages showering new writers with huge rewards on their into post.
Then completely forgetting about them going forward.
Of course theyâre going to feel disillusioned and demotivated when their actual work doesnât come close to the rewards they earned by simply saying hello.
Something for those of us with stake to keep in mindâŠ

The rewards on intro posts creates a different impression, I mean a person with $50 on their intro post would think it only gets better, but then I understand why it's so, encouraging people first time might keep them going or demotivate them when the reward stops flowing.
Best Hive Tip Ever! Took me a little over one year to make some cool friends and connections that support me in whatever I do. đ„ By showing up every day, you are increasing your chances to make more money and get luckier than others who are lazy or busy!

Yep, you are the perfect example of what to do.
Now youâve built your own stake in the platform and are helping the next gen.
I love to see it!

Thank you so much Dane â€ïž I have said this many times, but I will say it again. Wouldn't have been possible without your support.
Hoping to meet you someday. đ„đ„đ„

It for sure takes time to get noticed on Hive, but a great post should speak for itself. Besides engaging with the community by writing genuine posts, one may not forget to write a reply to all genuine comments one does receive. Regardless if they do upvote the post or not.

"Oh lordy" indeed. Looks like you had an eventful day. Remember, its Gaz's world, we just live in it. :)
No, you're right of course about showing up and adding value. That "build it and they will come" mindset never works. I'm making a concerted effort to fold in more time to do exactly that without cutting any of my responsibilities as the "responsible one" in the family.
Found some things I could trim in order to help keep the place more active so that new visitors have some tires to kick when they do exactly that.
What's that old saying about a tree falling in the forest? You can write the best post in the world, but you've gotta get out and get into the mix, while powering up your rewards in order to have even more impact.
I have a nice amount of LEO tokens coming in the next few hours and am powering them all up. Want to increase the quality of my writing, engagement, and aim for a 1000 LEO target and beyond. I know I can do it. I've done it before and I can do it again! :)

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.
