What Is Evergreen Content? by Yara Simon.

TITLE

You will notice my title. I never really thought about putting much effort into a title before. I had over the years on Hive heard people talk about it but I just assumed it was to grab the attention of readers on Hive. And that is true also.

But it is also very important in making your content evergreen.

You need a title than is not anything that is current or trending. Some examples are news articles, pop culture, statistics, or product announcements. These all get dated and fall in search engine ranking.

Yara gives a good example of that:

“Adding a year (“Best Vacation Spots in 2021”) or season (“Best Summertime Activities in New York”) to the title can limit how far your content can stretch. While they might still attract viewers after they are published, they will not be as evergreen as pieces that aren’t tied to a certain time period.”

WHAT IS EVERGREEN CONTENT

“Evergreen content is content that stays fresh for a long period of time. With evergreen stories, you are creating search-optimized content that is not tied to current events or that moment in time. These are topics that will engage your audience and serve a purpose at any point in time. There is steady interest in these pieces and their traffic remains relatively even, whereas you may see a spike and then a drop in views with timely content – i.e., content that isn’t evergreen.”

As we all should know by now, LeoFinance is leading into revenue sharing with us Lions. Both on Leo Threads and it will be on long form posts also, like this one.

Hive currently pays with upvotes for 7 days from the time you publish. With ad revenue sharing this is going to extend to the life of your content. And seeing anything you put on line is there forever, or as long as the internet is around, you can be paid for views, clicks, on really awesome evergreen posts for years down the road. Talk about passive, residual income.

To quote again:

Now with my title for this post, mine falls into the How-to guide part. I am trying to give you a resource that you can keep coming back to help you write better long form, make them evergreen. That in turn is what is going to help you make money online.

Sure I am talking about Hive, about LeoFinance but it is all still money. As we all know cryptocurrency and Hive is the future.

HIVE IS YOUR BUSINESS

Yara makes a statement at the start of her post:

“This article is for small business owners who want to improve their content marketing efforts by incorporating evergreen content into their strategy.”
Many people on Hive that have been around a long time like Jon and Task keep trying to beat this into your heads. If you have a Hive account then you have a business. Every time you do something on Hive that receives an upvote you get rewarded. You get paid. You are making income. You are swapping your time, your brain power (Proof of Brain) to be rewarded.

I believe that is why most of us are here on Hive and LeoFinance. To make money. Some people want a lot, some people are happy with a little but all in all we are all trying to do the same thing. If you start thinking of your account as a business, start branding yourself as I have. I am known as Mr. Positive. That has become my brand, that is what I promote. I put forth helpfulness and positivity. That is my business. That is how I make money online.

The author of the post that is my inspiration for this one gives this statement:

“Key takeaway: You can create evergreen content in several formats and for many industries. The key is to ensure the content will be useful, interesting and relevant to your readers for a long time.”

So, as you can see/read I am writing about making money because as I said that is why most of us are here.

In turn, if this post becomes evergreen it should be read outside of Hive and LeoFinance. It might get ranked in google and other people might read it. This could help our communities by bringing people to Hive and Leo. It is a win win.

WHY IS EVERGREEN SO IMPORTANT

Why am I writing so much about this, besides what I have already said? And why a couple times a week?

Again I am going to quote. Here is an example of what it did for one business:

“Evergreen content is the gift that keeps on giving. Search engine optimization company Ahrefs credited evergreen content with growing its own blog from 15,000 visitors a month to about 200,000.”

Can you imagine if one of your Hive posts when from 20 views to 2000 let alone what Ahrefs managed to do.

Below is a lot of great points and I am going to give my thoughts on each.

“Evergreen content is important because it can help you accomplish these tasks:
Rank higher on search engines. With the right keywords and focus on timelessness, evergreen content has the potential to rank high on search engines. These pieces tend to be long and high-quality, which can push you to the top of search engine results pages.”

And this my friends is what we all should be aiming for now. Don’t wait till the ad revenue is live. You don’t need to if you make your posts evergreen. It will be the gift that keeps on giving.

“Drive traffic to your site. Because evergreen content can rank higher on search engines, it can send serious traffic to your website on a regular basis.”

And this is what we all should want for Hive and LeoFinance. It will help onboard people. It will bring new users to us. It will help us grow and we will all be better off.

“Build your backlinks. Evergreen pieces are relevant for a long time, so they can generate backlinks, which is when other sites link to yours, over long periods. Backlinks give your website more credibility, and this helps you rank higher on search engines.”

This one is pretty self explanatory. And I know taskmaster4450 is hard at this all the time with Leo Glossary. I hear him talk about backlinks all the time. Sound advice coming from the blockchain and off blockchain.

“Offer great value to your audience and company. Whether you are writing these pieces in-house or hiring a freelancer for them, evergreen articles can provide value to your audience and your business years after you have spent the time and money to produce them.”

If you want to build your Hive presence. If you every want to become a whale. You better start offering what people consider value. Your value is writing what people are interested in. And who is not interested in making money?

“Set your company apart as a thought leader. These pieces should be on topics that tie back to your business, which can position your brand as a leader in its industry. This is especially true if you rank on the first page of search results for the relevant keywords, which will give audiences confidence in your knowledge of that topic.”

You are your own company. Your Hive account is your company. I love the ‘thought leader’. Man there is so much great information here. Task is a great example of this. People, his audiences, have great confidence in his knowledge. And it shows.

“Generate leads. Evergreen content brings more people to your website, which gives you more opportunities to attract and convert them.”

For us on Hive this is simply using your evergreen articles to get people to reading Hive posts. Hopefully that will lead to onboarding. It is that simple.
“Promote it over and over again. Unlike content that is only relevant for a short time, your evergreen content can be promoted on your social media channels over and over and still appeal to new audiences.”

At anytime now, with the upcoming ad revenue. I can take this post and share it to all my social media channels. Now, 10 years down the road. And still make money from it. Awesome fracking sauce people.

“Do less work. If you successfully create evergreen content, you don’t have to create as much new content, because it’s already doing so much heavy lifting for you.””

I don’t like this one as a Hivian. I want to create more content now. I want to do more work. But for the lazy people out there this is fantastic.
