Yeah, same here, I think I have an account on nearly every messaging service ever invented :-D lol And just like you, nowadays I try to narrow it down, but then there’s people still clinging on to this old system that they know well (even though they know it is bad), and then you have a choice, abandon the tool, and cut them off, or keep that one as well :-D
Fidonet was actually a combo between something IRC-ish and a type of email. It had direct messaging and group messaging, but it was all based on nightly updates, not direct sending. Most (but not all, and not exclusively) the BBSes were nodes in the Fido network, and did nightly syncs with the peers and higher level nodes. So a message could take up to 48 hours to be delivered, but it did work quite well. The big advantage was that you could check your messages in the morning, and you’d be done for the remainder of the day :-D lol

You just got DUO from @borniet.
They have 1/1 DUO calls left.
Learn all about DUO here.
Hahaha...yep, me too, I had accounts on all the main ones, and several smaller ones too. That is a dilemma with friends on multiple messaging networks, though thankfully I haven't had to face that really.
Oh, OK, that's very cool, and I didn't know that about BBSes. Thank you for the explanation! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
