It feels like another first day

So, on Thursday I got the news that I've been promoted to manager and got thrown straight into the deep end. I had some time off work that was scheduled for this week but decided to cancel it because I'd like to get right into it.

My new manager said I didn't have to cancel my scheduled holiday but I chose to. My team have already started taking calls and so, I figured I'd take this opportunity to know them.

So from Monday to Wednesday, I'll carve out time to have one on one sessions with each of them. The idea is to get to know each person and figure out the best way to help them achieve success.

The success of my team is directly connected to mine, so I have to ensure that everyone meets expectations. I might be new to the role but I was only recently in their position, so I know exactly what they're going through and the tricks required to pass probation and succeed in the role.

At first glance, it looks like I have a fairly good bunch of agents to work with. Most of them are starry eyed and full of smiles. Perhaps moreso because when I first met them, they were with their trainer who also trained me and it was a bit emotional.

Starting from today, I'd be getting straight into work and researching different communication techniques that'll hopefully lead to success. As far as my career is concerned, the only thing that matters is ensuring everyone in the group succeeds.
